I bought a 1 5/8" Autospring but changed my mind before installing it due to the problems being reported with them and sold it at a loss in the classifieds.

Many of the problems that were claimed were supposed to be cosmetic and the buyer should have been warned BEFORE purchase. Not sell a kit that does something without dislcosing what could happen. Kind of like when you buy a tuner it states "use at your own risk" and if you do not agree "return for a refund" But having to place a piece of plastic hose to fix the issue did not sound like a carefully designed product to begin with(that's why it was re-designed). Many, many members purchased that product due to ease of install and recommendations of members on this board. Definitely that response from the owner/seller/manager was not from a very professional individual. Anyone in customer service knows that regardless of how the "customer" acts you don't instigate, or taunt. That only makes the company look unprofessional and not the customer. It seems in my opinion that the re-designed version could have been made available at a substantial discount to members who purchased the previous version and who felt that they wanted to not have any problems by simply returning the old in exchange for the new for a small fee(not everyone is unhappy). But after reading some posts it seems that you would have to purchase the unit again and pay the full amount for the re-designed kit. (that in my opinion is not a good way to do business) whether the issue is cosmetic and the clunking normal or not. You don't tell the customer slap a piece of pipe and call it a day.. Granted the unit is a little over a 100 bucks which may not be much to some, money is money and it is hard earned. The product was purchased in goo faith to obtain the service of the kit as described to level the truck. So when the unit is sold there should be an agreement by the purchaser and ALL issues disclosed so that the purchaser can make an informed purchase. Not sell it for the sake of selling it and then refuse to stand by the product. (BAD BUSINESS) I think there may be some members who will change their mind about purchasing this product in the future, if that is the way they will get treated if an issue ever arose. Yes I agree that the welds look cheap. And no, they are not the ONLY company that makes leveling kits for our trucks. So the good news is that there are many options. JMO

Well, now that I have had more time to think about it, damn! Either you must have pushed his buttons at a bad time, or he's just an a$$. There is really no call for that. I hope that I don't have any issues with mine in the future just to avoid being ridiculed.

I don't know what you said to him in your email, but if he can't help you in any way. He could have at least reply in a proper manner. Not the kind of response i'd like to read when asking for assistance as a customer. Glad i went to ez lift. no problem so far. My 02.
I edited Post# 3 in this thread to show my exact message to him. I will forward the message to anyone who does not believe that that is all that I said to him. I still can't get over his response though.

How many of you have removed the Autospring? Those who removed their Autospring, what did you install in it's place? I am thinking Daystar lift or Rancho adjustable shocks. I am just waiting until the truck needs another alignment to do it. I'll probably replace the springs that are trashed now too. I guess that's the problem with buying a homemade lift kit like the Autospring.
Here is what im running. Pro Comp is a well known name.

You should not have any problems with the 2". The problems seem to only be with the 2.5" because it opens up the suspension wider. My upper control arm hangs almost straight down.

Nothing against Autospring, Very well built and easy to install, but I removed mine due to alignment issues on my truck. For some reason out of the 3 shops I used, they could not get it correct, the tires were wearing on the outside... No problems with my Rancho.

Which Rancho lift do you have MoJoe? I'm just trying to assess all the options. I really didn't want to go with a full lift until I could afford to buy a set of 35's to go with it.

EDIT: I just looked at your gallery and saw that you have the RS9000 0-2.5" adjustable shocks. That's really what I am leaning toward. Does anyone make aftermarket coilsprings, or will I have to use my stock ones?

I used the stock coils which ride nice and soft. I am very pleased with the entire lift from every aspect.

Here is the thread a little while back I started.

" Defective lift kit " - " ripped me off " - " homemade kit "

This is what I saw when I received your E-mail Freekyfx4. So I went freeky on you and for that I apologize. I let my emotions dictate my response and that was very un-professional. I,am not going to try and offer up any excuses for my actions other than the catch words in your e-mail tripped my trigger and my ego got bitch slapped. My ego needs to stay out of customer relations because the two don't work together well.

FreekyFX4 Please e-mail me back at your earliest convenience and I will work it out with you.

By the way, my fabricator/welder saw your e-mail about the "homemade" kits and he cussed you out way more than me. I think I will bitch slap him because he helped stir the emotion pot.

That is a horrible response. I can't believe AS that ignorant. I would imagine those still looking into this would simply look at pro-comp or EZ spacers. They are comparably priced to the AS I think.

I can understand that it is difficult to run a business when you have alot of people that "want" to take advantage of the company because they think that the company makes millions out of their product and it can be frustrating. I call it the "Wal-Mart mentality"(Use a product and return without a receipt and get your money back within 30 days) Dealing with customers really stinks sometimes because you are trying to sort out a legitimate concern from someone who wants a freebie and everyone that jumps on the bandwagon. So simply sending a new product for free is not viable for business, but addressing the issues with the few that are NOT happy or offer a discount for the re-design in exchange would make it seem you ARE willing to work with the unhappy customer and back-up the product. I mean exchange because you would have those that will want a NEW one for free and give or sell their old one to a buddy for self profit. Many are very pleased with your product and were aware of the cosmetic and clunking issue and still purchased and don't want the re-design. Also as human beings we allow our emotions to control our actions and when dealing with customers, you'll always end up losing if you lose your cool. I am glad that you were able to admit you were unprofessional and hope that you can resolve the issues with those unhappy few so that you can re-establish your company as the most favored to purchase leveling kits from. That took b*lls.
