Mileage out of your stock tires?

How many miles did you guys get on your stock tires before needing to replace them? I have the bfg rugged trails and after looking at some new ones im just about half the wear with 16,000 miles. Im hoping to make it 40,000 before new tires. I want BFG to come out with the TA/KO that will match up to the rugged trails now. I would rather not have to go up a size.

Anyways what stock tire did you have and how many miles before replacing or how they look with whatever miles on them.

Heck out 2000 had 90,000 on them suposively. Needless to say there were no longer treads left. Ahh nothing better than finishing off tires before getting new ones when they are slicks. I wont forget that last burnout, ran it all the way from first, through second, and chirped third. I think the mark was around for months.

My wife's Explorer has 17" BF Goodrich Rugged Trails, and they are just about worn out at 58,000 miles. I had to change my Rugged Trails out on my F150 at 7,000 miles...I could not stand to look at those anemic stock wheels and tires for one more day!

I have the 275/65/18 rugged trails or whatever they are. I have 33000 and they are starting to lose small chunks of rubber and i am to the first wear bar ( where the tread pattren starts to go away) . I drive mostly on Az rubberized asphalt and on som compacted ab at the yards i work at. I am getting new tires in a week or so.

my 18" BFG's were worn down to 3/32" left after only 16k miles. I got all 4 new tires for free under Ford's extended tire warranty. of course they put the same old BFG's back on though.

What do you mean free extended warrenty and why would they replace them for free unless they had cracking or something else? So they just replaced them because the tires were shot? I mean did you drive it hard or what?

My dads 01 F-150 made it to about 38,000 before totally splitting the bands in the stock RTS's. Guess loading thousands of lbs of cement in the truck day after day was not smart.

My 04 has 11,000 on it and the generals look new. This summer Im putting them on the 03 Ram and putting my 285 BFGs on though.

most of us got a letter in the mail from Ford in regards to the warranty. Do a search on here and you'll see. They will replace them due to vibrations or harshness issues, and also for uneven or rapid tire wear. I don't think I drive that hard. I just went in and complained about rapid tire wear and mentioned the warranty and they replaced them no questions asked.

Can anyone quantify this? And how do people read their tire tread. When I look at mine, it looks as if there is a wear bar between the treads between the edges and center of the tire (that is almost level with the rest of the tread). The outer valleys are a little deeper.

And what is a typical tire wear rate?
