Mine only went up 1-2mpg after the break in period. I've got the 5.4 supercab. Then another 1.5-2 after the Edge Programmer.

I got 14.7 pre-Edge.

I'm lucky if I get 15 mpg...I didn't buy this truck for gas mileage...but my truck is a heavy FX4

I did notice my mileage went up a bit after a couple thousand miles of break in...now it's right at 3k

Sorry Dude... No!

I've had my truck over two years and she hasn't gotten 21k miles on her yet. Winter I'm getting 9 mpg. Summer I'm getting 12-13 mpg.

Took one trip about 500 miles and kept it at 70-75 with cruise and hit 16.8, ONCE!!!

Enjoy the truck though. They are nice.

I to have an 06 150sc lariet 2wd 5.4 355 gear and 18" wheels. It just turned over 2k and the gas mileage stinks. The truck runs great and is as smooth as silk but looking at the exhaust pipe it appears to be running rich. so far the best mpg I have had is 14.5. The modded lightning I traded for the 06 did nearly this good. Oh well I love the truck.

Is the black carbon on the pipe indicative of running too rich? I didn't have this on my 01.

well my pipe is black(not oil). I've been looking at other trucks just to check theirs. The other thing i have noticed is that the exhaust pipe diameter on the 06's seems to be smaller than previous years maybe that contributes to the mileage

My '04 5.4 3v, SCREW is getting 13.6 mpg, city. Please note that I drive less 7 miles, each day, to work. So I factor in the fact the engine never really gets warm and I'm burning that winter-brew crap gasoline. During the warm months, I've hit 17 mpg with mixed city/hwy driving. I've also installed an AF1 intake with no other mods.

From what I'm seeing on the Edge threads, this tuner may add another 1-2mpg. I'm very interested in this, since 15 mpg seems pretty good for a 3 ton truck.

I've also shopped for exhausts, but I'm concerned that even an Mag SISO may hurt low-end, thereby hurting mileage.

While I love the hp gains and the performance, I detest the obvious gouging by the oil companies and will do anything to get another mpg.

Well I get almost 20mpg but I have a 4.2 w/ 5 spd. 11.5 sounds rather low especially for what you have listed, if that was your first tank I wouldn't worry. Run a few tanks through, try to get them closer to empty (don't run out of fuel though) so you can get a more accurate mpg number. My first tank I got terrible mileage, but after that it got much better. My best guess is that you should be seeing somewhere around 17 - 19 if you do mostly highway, but from what I have heard these trucks do terrible in the city. Give it a little bit of time before you make any conclussions, and good luck.

Sorry but I don't think the mpg will get much better. 2-4 MAYBE after break in, proper servicing and a tuner. But most who buy trucks only get worse gas mileage as we tend to quickly add an intake, exhaust, lift it and put heavier wheels and tires. That's why I also have a 4cyl for long trips and commuting.

What is this "break in period" several talk about? It's a load of crap!

This is my 9th brand new vehicle I've owned and I've driven ALL of them hard from the time I pulled out of the dealership. Drive 'em like a dog and they'll be that way for life.

Anyway . . . .

The MPG does get better. Mine took several hundered miles to break the 11.5MPG mark but it did and has been rolling ever since. I'm now at 13.8 and it creeps up just a tad everytime. I'm guessing I'll settle into the mid 15's or so and hover around there based on my driving style/conditions, which is 90-percent highway. It's at just over 4K now. I'm not runing WOT everytime I drive but I don't back down at the opportunity either.

Hang in there.
