Good deal on exhaust work?

Well I finally decided to do something with my exhaust. Getting kinda sick of hearing my tires, belt, and injectors. I'm a little nervous because I haven't heard many of the 04-06's with aftermarket exhaust. The ones I have heard have been in passing, so I have no idea what they had.
I made an appointment at a local shop. I am going to keep the stock pipes and just do the muffler. Heres what I have set up for tomorrow.

$199.00 for a 14" magnaflow si/so, a SS magnaflow tip, the filler pipe, and everything welded. He's even giving me a satisfaction guarantee for 7 days, so if I don't like the sound, or want to go to a 18" muffler for no extra cost.
He also said he will put the 14" on, crimp the pipe, and let me take her for a spin before they weld it up. I'm pretty happy about that. What do you guys think?

With the tip, it sounds like a fair price IMO. I paid $160 for a 40 series flowmaster welded up in place of stock in a similar fashion that it sounds like you are going to have done. I wish i had thought of asking the shop to temp. crimp up mine and a magnaflow to see what i liked more. oh well, theres always the next truck.
good luck.

I paid $130 for my 18" magnaflow installed. I didn't get a tip however. Those SS ones usually run anywhere from $40-60, plus the install. So I guess that's good.
I like the satisfaction guarantee too. But keep in mind that the muffler will get a little louder as it breaks in. At least mine has. Good luck. You're going to love it!

I'm putting on today a 24inch magnaflow with 18rolled edge ss tip magnaflow. for 140.00. the muffler is not the polished ss. The 14inch might have some drone on highway speeds. To each his own

That is one of my concerns. I'll try that, then decide before they weld it up.

Well its official now. I had them put on the 14" magnaflow on w/ the stainless tip. Initial drive I was kinda disappointed on how quiet it was. After about a half hour worth of driving it has gotten louder. I like the sound now. I had them mount the muffler as far back as they could, and I don't noticed any cabin drone what so ever.
I think the trucks start up is the best part!!
I also got to hear the sound with and without the 12" ss tip. Amazing how the tip can change the sound. So far I give it a

It'll get louder the more you drive it. I was disappointed with mine at first, but now after about 1,000 miles it sounds great!

I was pretty disappointed with my 18" maggie's noise level. I went with the loudest muffler around, the Flowmaster single chamber. Lost a ton of low end, but it looks and sounds awesome. I had the pipes bent out to a 45 on each side. I like the sound much more, it's a very rumbly sound, not too cackly unfortunately, but it's pretty loud. Definitely not as loud as I was hoping for, but it's what I expected. If this sounds wierd, I'm tired.
