NO NO NO... Dont return them. Simple fix. Bend them back with some needle nose pliers and they will fit. You will probably kick yourself for not thinking of it. If not, you should.

this came with a hard cast metal basket i think the only way is cutting off those ears and i don't have the tools to cut this kind of metal, the other choice is
trim the sides of the factory hold and i don't really want to that!
does any body has a infinity kappa components and how easy is to bend the side ears?

I have basicaly the same speakers:

The woofer fix is easy...just take a pair of pliers and bend the little tabs back and forth until they break off. If you look they are scored so you can do this. And don't stick the tweeters on the windshield...all you have to do is get a hole saw the size of the tweeter and open the factory hole up just a little (see my pic above) and your good to go. Cut it toward the top of the factory hole and they fit better. Then (if you dont want to mess with taking the door panel off to mount them right) just use a little JB Weld to hold them in place.

I guess maybe I am confused. I have 5x7 alpine type R's and they had an extra ear that I just bent back and they fit no problem. Good luck with your install.

Now how is the sound quality from those without an amp to push them? I had a pair of Type R 6.5" comps powered by an amp and they sounds great so I know what they sound like with amp. But I dont want to add another amp to my system because I dont have much room as it is.

So would I be able to get away with just a set of components without amp for better than stock quality...

In the armrest under the power window switches. The cover just pops off and there is plenty of room for it in there.

You rock!

I was debated whether I should bother with components in this truck because of crossover box locations. This is a perfect location!!!!
