edge lightning software?

downloaded the software and connected the usb....not reading anything. reread the directions and i failed to install the drivers. hit the install drivers and still nothing. i ended up going into add/delete programs and got rid of the whole program. went back to the site and reinstalled the program (note:that only took about a second? dialup).....hit the install drivers and it still says the edge isn't hooked up now? i am by no means a big computer guy, what should i do? thanks guys.

Do not connect the Evolution to the PC until you have installed the Lightning software and then gone to the Edge Products\USB Drivers folder and installed the appropriate drivers for your operating system. If you are using WinXP or Win2k you will get a warning dialog stating the drivers are not digitally signed. Click on Continue and intsall them anyway. Hope this helps.

Also, make sure you read the readme.txt file included with the Lightning software. It indicates you may have to load the drivers twice (this is because there are two different drivers that need to be loaded). Here's a link to a post I made with the contents of the file (see Post #40): https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...28#post1961428

Good luck!

Out of curiosity is the Edge software Windows only or is OS X supported as well? I'd bet dollars to donuts it won't run on a Mac.

If you own a MAC, you ought to be used to it by now and have a backup PC in the closet somewhere........
I can try it tomorrow at work, i have a spare MAC for testing for just such an emergency....

In Windows XP you go into the "folders settings" and select "show hidden files".

I'm not sure about Windows 98 SE

I didn't know anyone in the free world was still running that OS.

Thanks Gobra, still have a PC hooked up here, but don't like using it unless I have to. The Macs make me the cash for the toys and once you go Mac, you don't go back

vxd files are virtual device drivers--these are software files that act as buffers between hardware devices and the software program. In other words, you won't be able to do anything with the vxd files by themselves.

If you've installed your USB drivers correctly, then connect your Edge unit to your computer. Then navigate to the "C:\Edge Products\Evolution Lightning" folder and double-click the "Lightning.exe" file. (Alternatively, you can access the Lightning software program by using Start|Programs|Edge Products|Evolution Lightning). After you start the Lightning software, look in the lower left-hand corner of the program window. If your USB drivers are correctly installed, you should see "Connected." If the USB drivers are not installed properly, you will see "Disconnected."

I ran setup.exe and everything appeared to install correctly
and I then installed the drivers and all appeared to go well.
I can read the Edge for update info. BUT everything says I ain't connected and they appear under control panel/system.
Don't know...btw, this is for windows 98 se.
