edge lightning software?
not sure i follow you....you say you show not connected? if that is the case then i would think you are not. i just might do another uninstall and install again and see what happens...getting a little frustrated with this old computer
Maybe someone can hekp me out, I installed everything (S/W and drivers) When I connect to the edge, it says CONNECTED, I go CHECK FOR UPDATES, it checks the website, no problem, then when it goes to check the Edge unit itself for the version and check for updates, I get a timeout error.
I repeat, it says I am CONNECTED?
I also tried to change the splash screen, and same thing, timeout error?
Any ideas?

I sent you some detailed instructions via e-mail. I hope they work, but I suspect the issue is with Windows 98 SE itself. In any case, let me know if my instructions help. If they do, I'll post them here for the others who are having problems.
Good luck!

Plug the Edge in the USB port and the drivers are in "control panel\device\usb controllers"...unplug the Edge and the drivers are gone after reopening control pane\device, Etc"
All this without a reboot. Don't get that one, usually the drivers stay.

The USB function in Windows 98 SE is questionable, at best. Microsoft never could get it working correctly and gave up on it.
Try a Microsoft product made in this century, for best results.
This is 2006, in case you haven't looked at a calendar recently.

All my other stuff works (printer, etc.) on my USB ports so it's not a Windows 98 problem...most likely Edge software.
As to Kool Aid's comment about 2006...Yes, you are right, it is 2006 and a new century...I traded a cherry 1994 Chevy Silverado with no problems on my 2005 XLT. The XLT vibrates, clunks, and shimmies (common problems)...so much for the 21st century.

Try plugging the unit into an XP machine and see if it works. Im guessing that Edge didnt design the unit to work on 98 machines whereas your other devices were designed to take 98 into account. Ive been in the IT world for a while now and i concur about the flakiness of 98 USB functionality.
