Question

Where did you install the cross-over boxes for your front speakers?

I used 2 sided tape on the backside of the doors.

So there was enough room between the sheetmetal on the door and the door trim? ...or did you mount them on the door panel (visible)?

Check out a company called CDT, they make 5.25 components and the set of 6.5s I have sound pretty amazing to me. I think they go for about 140. Also the tweeters are almost a direct fit into the stock locations, I had to make it just a tad bit bigger with a dremel tool. Last since you do a fair amount of offroad, might want to look into some of those foam baffles that go around the speakers, not sure how much it effects the sound but it def helps keep em dry, I was very surprised at how much water can get in the doors.

My bad there $240 here
but you may be able to find em cheaper somewhere.

Yes a pioneer 50x4. Works great. I did not want to mess with an amp yet.

I just spoke with a Crutchfield rep and here is what he told me I should do. .

- Infinity Reference 6810cs 6"x8" 2-way Component System
- Infinity Reference 6812cf 6"x8" 2-way Speakers
- MTX Thunder564 70W x 4 Car Amplifier

The total came out to be $551.96 with wiring and $629.93 with foam baffles and the Dynamat door kit. How does this sound, product wise? I'll probally end up buying them from Techronics.

a little off topic (im kinda new to speaker systems) but if you wanted to upgrade you components and subwoffer would you have to buy a monosub amp and a 4channel speaker amp or do they make ones for both?

So your thinking of getting a sub later then????

What is your price range??? really because there are allot better speakers out there they just cost more.
Dont get me wrong those are great.
Just curious what your willing to spend.

Honestly, considering its $630 with the Dynamat and foam baffles. I don't want to spend anymore. Im probally going to do two L7 8s unless I can find two 10s that I like more. .

Depends on how many set of speakers and if the amp is bridgeable. Yes, they make both amps. Class A/B and class D amps, a/b are stereo and d are mono amps. Stereo amps can be bridged to play mono, but a mono can only play mono. Alot of people will run a 5 channel amp...2 stereo channels and 1 mono channel.

Thumper...I would buy a 5 channel amp at the least if you plan adding a sub and you are on tight budget.
