Tips on changing serpentine belt?

Hey All,

I've got the 5.4L engine with 50k on it, so I figure it's time to change the serpentine belt. I purchased a Gatorback belt from all the rave reviews. Do you guys have any tips on changing the belt? I stuck my breaker bar to loosen the tension but it's at such an awkward angle.

Merry Christmas all!

-Chris

**Update**
That wasn't as bad as I thought. Instead of using a breaker bar, I used my torque wrench which is a bit longer than the breaker bar, and it's not fixed in a position. That fan shroud is very scratchy, luckily it's cold and I was wearing a long sleeve sweatshirt. It is pretty awkward to get at the bottom two pulleys, but it didn't take me more than 10 minutes after the air cleaner tube was off. I was happy when i test drove it and it shifted at WOT without a sound. Thanks for the tips again guys.

It is kinda awkward to get loose. But the best way is 2 people. One under the truck to route the new belt over the bottom pulleys while you put the top ones on. It's tricky but doable with one person.

No problem. You can do it.
Tip: Just dont get your finger stuck under the belt.

Just make sure to check the belt is fully on the pulleys before you start it. Also, depending on your breaker bar, be careful on the fan shroud. Got some really nice scratches on my arm

Whereabouts in Los Banos do you live, do you know of any duckranches out there? My family owns Clearlake land & cattle duckranch up there, I grew up on that ranch, it's a huge ranch out on that gravel road that stretches past a few of them. It's the Snyder ranch, anyways, let me know if you're familiar with it.

I live in town by the High School. I'm not familiar with too many of the ranches out here. There are quite a few between here and turlock. Anyways, that's cool that your family has a ranch out here. Wish we had one. Merry Christmas!
