Ever see a grown man cry?
hey man, sorry about the truck, that really sucks!
Funny thing tho, the gf's been driving my truck the last few days because she rearended someone with her car and I've been driving it while I'm fixing it (just a little bump, and its an old geo anyway, so it just took a little beating and straightening to fix). Anyway, she calls me this morning on her way to school and immediately starts this line: "umm... don't know how to say this, but... um... where do you keep your proof of insurance and registration?". I started flipping out like "Oh, no, what happened? Are you OK? Where are you?..." She just pauses and just says "oh, nothin', just thought I'd call and freak you out!!" click. Lucky she was on the phone, or I might have popped her one! (not really, but I felt like it, anyway) At least she was just jerking around with me, and nothing really happened. But for a few minutes I had that feeling like my heart just fell out of my chest!
Anyway, good luck on getting it fixed, and I'm glad everyone is OK.

You know, sadly at first I thought it was just a prank call, then she started crying. And then I just about crapped out my insides. Followed of course by furious anger and murderous rage. Then reality hits and it just boils down to "F*(&!!!!" Be grateful you dont have to feel my pain. And smack your girl for me for being so insensitive.
When will I get it back? Im looking at probably 3 weeks away from my baby. At the very least 2 if Im lucky. So Christmas looks pretty lonely right now. All the damn hurricane Willma damage backed everybody up.
But wait! It gets better! The douche and his insurance have been conveniently unavailable. So as of right now Im using my insurance and paying a deductible out of my pocket.
Luckily because of how these trucks are put together its not that big of a deal (well it is, but Im trying very hard not to strangle my wife...) Swap the doors, bumper, beside, and Bam! good as new. Or so I keep telling myself.
At least I got a pretty sweet rental to tide me over. Infiniti G35. Man does that thing haul ***!
Gotta get one someday!
Your probably right about the 2nd car. She probably wouldnt ever get a scratch. Hell, birds would never even crap on it with my luck.
Anyhow, Ill try to get those pics up in a couple of hours. Hope they came out clear.
Thanks,
Luis S
P.s. Thanks for all your support everybody. Ive had such a crappy year and then for this to go and happen it just made me feel like s$%t. It was my pride and joy. I dont own anything else like it, know what I mean?It was a serious blow to me. But I know in the end its just a truck. My wife is alright and thats what matters. Thanks again for helping me vent.

I had an old man back into me at a stop light (he was old not sure why he was backing up) in my old truck. Anyway I almost killed him by yelling at him. He had asthma and started taking deep gasps to breath. Once he did that I calmed down because I didn't want him to drop dead.
I couldn't imagine what I would do if someone crashed into me in this truck. I got a bad temper and am very protective of my property and things I work hard for. If he was younger he would have got a knuckle sandwich the second I got out of the vehicle.
Sorry about your truck.

Thats not as bad as you made it sound like. No big deal and you shouldn't hold it against your wife in the least bit. I lost my Ranger in June but the douche bag druggie that hit me didn't have insurance, no license, no income I could sue him for, pretty much the only thing he had was the little POS car.....that was also destroyed in the crash. Came into my lane and sideswiped me, both runnin around 60. And don't get your wife a junker to drive, my Ranger was destroyed but both me and my girlfriend got out with just a couple scratches and bruises, the other guy was in a Corsica, damn near killed him and the paramedics had to cut him out of the car. Ford builds these things like tanks, get it fixed, let her drive it anytime she wants and dont worry about it gettin messed up. Fenders and bumpers can be replaced a lot easier than arms and legs.

Hey that splatter mark is not from you running over her skull, is it?
Your truck is still way cleaner than mine.
All things seem to work their way out in the end....
Good Luck with the repairs, and take your wife out to dinner....but make her pay.
You guys are great. Its been good being able to chat about it with you all. Really helped keep me from flipping out.Old people are dangerous, I avoid them like the plague. This douche happened to be about my age.No doubt about it, Had I been there, I would have beat that dumb bastard senseless. I too take great care of my truck and cherish it quite a bit. I would have been going ballistic. The guy is luckier than he'll ever know.
Yeah, it might not look as bad as I described. However that has alot to do with how clean I keep it. Imagine Im looking, pissed as hell mind you, and I think "Damn, shes looks pretty clean even after being mangled!" . To appreciate it you would have to see it in person. No way that was getting fixed with bondo thats for sure. Put it to you this way, in person it looks more like crumpled up aluminum.
Im not going to hold it against the wife. Whats done is done. But man am I going to bust her chops for months! As far as driving it goes, shes on probation when I get it back. If shes a good girl and say perhaps buys an exaust or nav for it, then she may drive it again.
That splatter is actually from my tears after I saw the truck.
Thanks again for all the support you guys. Its been a big help believe me. Supposedly work got under way today so hopefully shell be back sooner than later. Dealership said it wouldnt be to bad to fix. Well see. Either way Ill keep posting updates as I find out anything.
Thanks again,

Am I seeing that right....that pic was taken at a pump at a gas station???? I hope the dufus was at least paying for a tank of gas???? I'm guessing not though....the truck still looks pretty damn good even though it's crunched in that pic...
Hopefully you get her back to normal soon.
Edit....I meant the truck...not the wife

Hey, dealing with one Excel whiz (my wife) is enough, dont you come in here mocking me in this difficult time.
The pic at the gas station was just before I took her to the bodyshop. Had to get gas for my other truck so I figured Id take a couple of extra pics while I waited.
Thanks for the compliments btw. Though to be honest it kinda depresses me. She was in obcenely good shape before. Were talking right off the lot nice.I worked my *** of taking care of her. And now? Sigh...
I hope they do a nice job bringing her back to her former glory. At least that whole side will be new metal. No painted bondo/filler in any case. Should look pretty good when its done.
And the wife will be fine. However she will be sucking up to me for a long time to come. In one way or another...
Thanks again,

I know the feeling.........I got a call about 3 years ago......my wife crying on the other line....She was driving to work on a major highway in Jersey...4 lanes...some stupid kid entered from an on-ramp and hit her rear passenger side, sent her spinning across 4 lanes of traffic and hit he cement median head-on......She was driving our 1yo Explorer Sport Trac. It was totaled. The frame was bent in the back where she was hit and the entire front end was crushed to about 4 feet from the winshield. SHE WALKED AWAY!!!! unharmed with out a single scratch. The interior looked absolutley perfect.
After that we bought a Mountaineer and had it for 2 years...now we have a little boy 18months and got the F-150. I figure if they are going to get hit I would rather have them in this FORD (tank)than anything else....I can always buy a new truck, not a new family.
Glad your wife was ok.....just think if she was driving a POS,you might have been wishing she was in your truck!!!!

No doubt, Im very grateful shes ok. Thats priority 1. My wife is evrything to me and I couldnt live without her. The first thing I told her was that the truck had 2 purposes. 1) Protect her 2) Look good doing it. It did both and will continue to do so in the future. I feel no other vehicle can give me that.
After the dust settled though I thought "why god? why did it have to be THAT truck?
I wouldnt have wifey drive anything less though. The doors took all the damage with nothing done to the frame or body where they attach. Even the step bar was untouched believe it or not.
She'll just have to get me some mods to help the recovery process.
Oh and guys I was kidding about the POS thing. When I can afford to I'll bujy her something tough. For now, she'll still drive it all the time. Well, maybe just a little at first.
Thanks,
Luis S
