Warranty question!!I'm taking my truck in this morning to get my brake system changed

they are changing the rotors...callipers and pads....well I bought those really good porterfield pads that everyone loves on this site..and Ford will put those on in instead of the oem pads, but they're saying once they do they will void the warranty on the brakes...Should I get Ford to put the oem brakes on and take it somewhere else to get them swapped for the Porterfields so they don't know and it doesn't void my warranty?

I would. Don't give the stealership a reason to not warrenty your brakes in the future. Just bite the bullet now and have the porterfields installed somewhere else.

Dolemite can you provide a link to where I might be able to buy these porterfield ceramic brakes pads?

I want to get some also. I am tired of the brake dust.

Thanks.

If you have them put on the Porterfields, and you still have the vibe, then they can claim it is the pads. Make them get the truck right and then put the Porterfields on yourself.

Let them put the OEM pads on and then put the others on yourself. Only takes about 45 minutes. Dont pay someone else. Then if you have problems throw the OEM's back on, brake it hard a couple of times, and then take it in.

Same boat here

I have a 2004 Supercrew with 20" rims and no vibe. I had the front pads changed under warranty at 6K and the front rotors changes per the TSB at 8K, now I have 15K and the rear brakes are worn out. I have really bad squeaking and SUPER bad dust and want to change pads to one of the aftermarket pads listed on this site, but Ford said it will void my warranty and I am worried that if I replace the pads and develop a shim or vibe on braking, then I will be out of luck at the dealer in the warranty issue.

They can't void your warranty for using aftermarket pads. There is a law that prevents that. It's like them trying to void your warranty for putting non OEM tires on your truck. It's all BS.
