4x4 TSB?
4x4 TSB?
I still have problems with my front hubs when outside temp drops below freezing. So far, dealer has changed solenoid valve and the two hub assemblies (actuators). Looks like a vacuum leak makes the gear engage slightly, which causes an annoying grinding noise. Everything is fine when I switch to 4x4.
I heard that a new TSB may have come out last week about this problem. Anybody can confirm this?
Thanks

Tempature should have nothing to do with the engageing. If Your hubs are slightly engaging with the truck running it is yours IWE going bad or you have leaks in the vaccum line. You can get a vaccum pump and pull a vaccum on the system yourself.
you might want to do a search. I tried and could not find it. I heard something about mosture in the vac lines freezing on here a few weeks ago. I do not remember anything about a TSB on it though. Good Luck.
I had mine in 2 different times for the same thing. Both times they replaced the solenoid due to water getting in it. The first time they said it was full of water. They ended up calling the Ford hot line to see if this was a know problem. Turns out it is and they are working on a fix...should be availiable in the next 90 days. This was a couple of weeks ago so i don't know if the fix is out yet. I'll check with the dealer when i go in to get my last free oil change. I'll keep you posted what i find out it will probably be a couple more weeks though. Does anybody know if this tears up the hubs? It sound like it should the the dealer told me everything is fine?
Thanks

Ray, I just went through all the TSBs released since Jan.1 fairly carefully, and the only TSB that mentions anything about moisture is one for diesels and the water in fuel monitor.
There is one other TSB (06-2-16) which deals with shudder and vibration on low speed turns for limited slip axles and requires replacing teh clutch pack. You might ask your dealer about that one...

Ray, they also used a plastic water bottle to act a rain cap for mine on the second one. But the service manager said that the fix will be either a improved solenoid or a relocation kit to keep the water from getting in.
