Plastic Bed Cover Rails Warping

Anybody having problems with the plastic side bed rail covers warping on an 05 Scab ? Mine are starting to get wavy and I'll probably take it to the dealer for replacement. No impacts or other damage to the rails. Thanks

I noticed that my left side bed rail cover was peeling up on the inside front edge, nothing a little silicone won't fix though.

I think that Ford went to a cheaper plastic than with the older model. Colorado weather offers punishing sunlight, then freezing a$$ed temperatures in the shade, so mine did the same thing. Dealer replaced them with no problems.

I have a lid covering mine but haven't noticed any warpage. I'll have to look to see if any has started.

I haven't notice any warpage "yet" ... but what I have noticed is that you can barely touch these things and they will scratch and/or become damaged! They are not durable at all.

Yeah, mine got beat up by some 1x4 lumber the second day I had the truck, plastic is soft. No warpage yet, maybe because of the snuglid. No uv rays.

Bed Rails

Took the truck to the Dealer today and they are ordering new bed rails. Body Shop Tech took one look and said no problem. No mention if they have seen this before.

I also live in Colorado. I've had my passenger side railing replaced by the dealer and it's looking like the driver's side is soon to follow. The weather here is the reason given to me by the body shop manager at the dealership. Question is, after the warranty has expired, I'm going to end up replacing these on my own for the life of my truck! I would like to know if there is something topical that I can put on these plastic rails to avoid this in the future. Any ideas? Maybe I'll ask the dealer this same question.

Get some black diamondplate bed rails. That would look sweet. I'm going to look into getting those. They would match my toolbox. I'm excited just thinking about them now. Anybody know a good place to look?

On my '02 Ranger I had Line-X sprayed on the bed rails. Protected well, rugged, and looked good too. Didn't do it with my '05 Scab because of the pastic rails, after reading this I may go back to the Line-X shop...

I think it'd look cool on my DSG truck
That's what I want, just in black.

My girlfriend has suggested spreading on some Oil Of Olay Anti-Uv Wrinkle Cream...jk, of course. Seriously, I like the idea of the Line-X. I have the tonneau cover, so I wonder how it would look. Either replacement ideas listed are pricey. Just wish it was a trim item that lasted the life of the truck, instead of having to be replaced every 10-20k miles.
