Wow. I only got halfway through the second page and can't read any more of this. Perfect example of why Kelmvor (or whatever the ******* his name is) is on my ignore list. No thanks for all those people who felt inclined to quote him post after post.

I feel compelled to chime in on this one...

I feel that a loaner or rental is owed...especially for a defect as large as a new engine.

I owned a 1990 toyota truck. I received a letter from Toyota when the truck was six years old indicating they had a head gasket problem with the V6 engine. If the head gaskets were to fail within the next 12 months or up to 100,000 miles they would warranty it. Six months later at 65,000 miles my head gaskets blew. Toyota not only warrantied the engine, but paid for the rental car...all 45 days of it.

Keep in mind that this truck was a year and a half out of warranty.

The only cost to me was $245.00 for bs stuff. A new engine for $ 245.00.

Ford could learn a few things from Toyota. I realize that no one is perfect, but Ford has some rappy customer service. By the way, my next car was another Toyota. Then I was dropped on my head and I fell in love with the Supercrew, bought one, it fell apart, got dropped on my head again, bought another supercrew, but I think this will be the last one.

Just my two cents!
Regards!

I guess this Blue Oval Certification might be nothing more than a gimick.

Taken directly from the FORD website:

"Blue Oval Certified is all about one thing: Customer Service. It's about doing whatever it takes to make your experience a pleasant one, whether you're coming in to buy or lease a new car or Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, or just need to get parts or service. A dealership that achieves Blue Oval Certification must commit to our highest standards of customer satisfaction. That's why becoming Blue Oval Certified isn't a given, it's something a dealership has to earn. Dealership employees are proud to be essential members of Team Blue Oval. Each and every employee of a Blue Oval Certified Dealership contributes something unique to the success of the entire dealership and has opportunities to win service awards and earn recognition.

I would be angry also. Like many here have already stated that according to the original FMC warranty you are not entitled to a loaner car however in a paragraph just below that statement is a disclaimer.

Look on page 4 of the 2005 Warranty which where you will see that it clearly states and I quote
"Some states do not allow Ford or Ford Vehicle Assurance Company to limit how long an implied warranty last or to exclude or limit incidental or consequential damages, so the limitations and exclusions described above may not apply to you."

If you do not receive satisfaction from your Ford Dealer or from FMC then contact your state's Attorney General's office to determine if you have a course of action against your dealer and/or FMC to recover the cost of a rental.

Another bit of food for thought...
ROADSIDE SERVICE ASSISTANCE (UNITED STATES, PUERTO
RICO, AND U.S. VIRGIN ISLANDS)

Your vehicle is covered by the complimentary Ford Roadside Assistance
Program (unless you are driving a daily rental unit). Under this program
Ford will cover:
• towing to the nearest Ford Motor Company dealership, or towing to
your selling dealership if within 35 miles.

So if I am reading this right Ford will tow your vehicle but will not provide you with a ride back to the shop because its not explicitly stated in the warranty. Have fun walking on the interstate.

Sorry, but you KNEW when you bought it that there was no free rental program.

But if they want to be nice and help you out, then it's UP TO YOU to find those few nice dealerships that go out of their way to fix you up.

Oh, and 40k trucks and 40 dollar shirts are the same. Price does not determine the "seriousness" of the need for freebies.

You guys are just BITCHIN' about not getting a free lunch....enjoy your new engine
Lets see a new truck with a leaky engine and you pay the rental.. MMM i don't think so. Freebie??? Don't think so should be the least they could do for making a junk engine.. Quality whats quality... get real bro .

If you feel that you should get paid back for the loaner then write ford motor company a letter or call them and I would bet that they will pay you back for the loaner vehicle. In any case you will have to ask!
Wow.

I had to read all the way to page 4 before I found someone with any sense.

What a great group of nitwits assembled here.

I hope this thread dies out soon, because it's really pretty simple.

Engine dies, Ford needs to replace it.

Dealer keeps vehicle for 1 weeks, 2 weeks, whatever...

Politely ask the dealer for a loaner, explain your situation to them etc, be nice about it.

If they say no, then your stuck with the cost of the rental... Just don't go back to that dealer again

Pay for your rental and then call Ford customer service and politely ask for reimbursement...

If they say no, then never buy another Ford again..

It's THIS simple....

I understand the frustration. A new engine is a MAJOR defect. I probably would make due without my Ford for maybe 3 days, but after that anything in for warranty work I would politely ask for a free rental.....

nuff said...... If you can't find good Customer Service go elsewhere (new dealer, new Truck Manufacturer etc.).

I see some in here saying that other car companies will give you a loaner. I know of several dealerships near where I am that will go the extra mile while in their shop, others will not. I have had GM products that they will not at the dealership I purchased it from. Then I switched dealerships for the warranty repairs a was treated like gold with a free loaner off the used car lot. Regardless what brand you buy the dealership should treat everyone like they just purchased a Lincoln. I think many are trying to get out of doing this so that they can push the extended service plans that cover most of the loaner cost. Talk to your dealer and let him know how happy you are about this and let him know where your next purchase is not going to be!

OK, I have to chime in here.
First, Ford doesn't supply loaners to anyone. The dealer does.
My dealer has even gone to Enterprise to rent a truck when I told them a car wouldn't due. The dealer makes the difference.
Second, anyone ever heard of rental insurance? It's like 1-2 dollars a month on your auto policy. I'm covered no matter what happens!

Actually you are dead on, she is a knock out, a cross between Shania Twain and Julia Roberts but with a "heathier chest" :-)

>She might get more out of them than I can,

Too funny, when we went to buy the truck I made sure she had a tight cropped shirt on and let her deal with the Business manager on the truck deal in his office.

When the deal was finally done, we left with an even better deal that I had arranged on the phone!!!

>I guess Im ugly.

I would probably have the same problem as you :-)

>Thanks for the Idea, Never thought of that,

No problem, glad to help.
