Oh, the other day i had to send my WORK dell laptop back to india or wherever to get repair work done. I should HAVE BITCHED LIKE A GIRL until they sent me a loaner laptop huh?

Sorry, but you KNEW when you bought it that there was no free rental program.

But if they want to be nice and help you out, then it's UP TO YOU to find those few nice dealerships that go out of their way to fix you up.

Oh, and 40k trucks and 40 dollar shirts are the same. Price does not determine the "seriousness" of the need for freebies.

You guys are just BITCHIN' about not getting a free lunch....enjoy your new engine

I agree 100%

If you want/expect a loaner you better get in good with the dealer and be a good customer.

Thats why I like lincoln and lexus....It is in the deal for them to provide a rental under warranty.

Your right, loaner cars are not written anywheres in the purchase agreement. So the dealer doesnt have to offer him one. But do you think this guy is going to buy another new ford with out a hesitation after the poor customer service? I dont think so. Ford should give him a rental, whether it be a friggen ford tempo or another truck, since its under warrenty just out of their own courtesy. That my friend is what keeps guys coming back, the benifits, not the features.

This website has gone down hill and its because of guys like you. No wonder why half the regulars are leaving because their tired of dipshats like you running your mouth about nonsence.

And by the way, Brew, im with you. There IS a HUGE difference between a shirt and a truck. I bet YOU dont pay LISTED price on your NEW TRUCK. But yet i bet you pay whatever the store wants for that damn shirt.

I could not have said it better!!!!

There is a HUGE difference between them! and you know what... If I bought a shirt, and come home to discover a tear... I take it back and they give me another one!

It seems the orignal poster just found a defect in his truck when the oil was leaking and they're replacing the motor...

kelmvor's example of spilling coffee on a shirt and wanting a free shirt doesn't make any sense. It's like someone posting they blew their motor up with nitrous and want a free motor.

Personally I believe the dealership should let you have a loaner for free. Your money/payments are being made in good faith that the vehicle you purchased would be available for you to drive. If the vehicle is not drivable because of them then the payments should be credited or an alternate vehicle supplied.
I think your next vehicle purchase should greatly depend on how the dealership handles this matter. Politely explain this concept of customer service to them and see what their actions are. Then you will know were to take your repair service/vehicle purchase the next time.

Let me put it this way...Ford is not obligated to give him a rental...his dealership is not obligated to give him a rental, but I don't think its too much to expect his dealership to offer him a fricken car to drive while his brand new one is in the shop. I don't care if it was a used Focus they SHOULD (not have to...SHOULD) offer him something to drive....I know my dealership does. It is called customer service and that leads to customer loyalty to that particular dealership. My dealer will tell you he doesnt want to sell you a car today...he wants you to come back year after year. I don't give a F' if you buy a Saturn or a Honda or a Ford if that particular dealer wants you to buy from him again he should treat you right.

No, but last time I checked, most shirts don't come with a 3 year/ 36,000 mile unlimited coffee spillage warranty either........

But to be serious, no they don't have to provide a loaner, I know it is in the paperwork and all that blah blah. BUT all this gripe he is getting here of him being lucky that they are replacing his engine is BS. If it is a problem and it is under warranty (especially at that super low mileage), then it should be fixed no problem, end of question. Nobody is "lucky" here because of getting the work done for free....that's why we buy new vehicles.

The consensus seems to be find the right dealer and a loaner shouldn't be a problem. The dealership I frequent always gives me a loaded taurus...pretty gay, but it's better than a focus, and they are not obligated to give me anything. And they and I know where my next Ford truck is coming from!

Not from my understanding. Dealerships are stand alone cost centers and that's a cost of doing business, not a re-imbursable expense from the mother ship...

Well, maybe its different in Canada, eh? I worked at a Ford dealer and they had a whole program for loaners...the boss just loved to get 6 or 7 loaners going so he could get some revenue. They made good used cars after a year too! Also, they had a special luxury loaner program for Lincolns...

No, they don't. At least Ford brand dealers don't, SVT dealers and Lincoln dealers get some kinda reimbursement, but normal Ford customers and Mercury customers are on their own. Loaners are very expensive for dealers, mainly because of the insurance for 'em.

I love how half the morons here don't understand that there is a difference between

FORD (motor company)

and

"Their Local Ford Dealer"

Oh and FYI - the 3yr/36000 warrenty doesn't say anything about loaner cars.

You guys are really reading this all wrong. The point of this thread was free loaner cars. The engine thing is just funny cause he makes it sound like he drove it without oil to the dealer. But anyway..this is boring...later! :santa:

Well, I saw a lot of BS in this thread but unless I missed it you didn't say if you actually spoke to anyone at the dealership about providing a loaner. Their default position is almost always going to be no, but I'd bet if you spoke to a manager and respectfully stated your position, they would take care of you. This is a little more unusual than your typical warranty repair.
