CD Problem With CD-6 MP3 headunit
CD Problem With CD-6 MP3 headunit
I have the audiophile CD6, MP3 headunit and it will not play a burned CD-R disc. It will play a burned MP3 Cd and it will play a regular cd that you buy in stores but it will not play a burned CD-R. Anyone else have this problem?? Or anyone know a solution to fix it??
The head unit may have an internal problem. I've got a non-audiophile CD-6/MP3 head unit in my truck and it won't play certain store bought CDs. I just haven't gotten around to getting it fixed.
Quintin is probably right, but in lots of years of burning disks I can recommend trying a few things.
One, try different brands. Headunits frequently are picky about brand or color of disk.
The cheap green (look gold) are often not very good for analog readers. Try some more expensive silvers.
Or even cheap ones, but a different brand.
Always burn your music CD at a lower speed. 1 to 4 gives the best results.
Due to the way CD-R works, the faster you burn it at the more finicky the disk.

I don't have any problems with mine, but I do agree with Chris Adams that when you burn them do it at the slowest speed. With higher speed while burning, it still plays the cd but the quality sucks, so I stick to slower speeds. If that doesn't help, I would take it to the dealer. Good luck.

I'd also suggest to burn the CD as slow as possible. From experience, some CD players don't like some CD-R brands, some CD-R burners and some CD burning software. Compatability problems still plague CD-Rs.
I've actually had more problems with the expensive CD-R's than the cheap ones. The old Verbatims burned with NERO seem to work in anything.

Ditto. The most expensive, Memorex, have never worked well for me. I have somewhere between twenty/thirty burners in the shop as I type, and I don't think any one of them like Memorex.
The DVD-R's are the same way, just not quite as bad.
Try a different brand, burn slow, and be sure to close the disk if that is an option.
