Question Anyone lower their '04 - '06 4x4?

I know this probably has been asked before, and I know this will probably start a nasty flame war, but please be gentle.

I love the look of sport trucks, but really need the functionality of 4x4 here in MN. I have a Supercab 4x4 right now...

Has anyone lowered their 4x4 yet? If so, whose kit did you use and how low? Did the ride quality suffer? I am considering this for several reasons:

1) As mentioned above, I like the look of sport trucks...not slammed, but sporty looks (Lightnings, Chev 1500SS, SRT10 Ram)

2) Ground clearance isn't all that necessary for me

3) Ground clearance isn't all that impressive to begin with

4) Lower height loading the box (wifey and I aren't giants)

5) Lower cab access height for the dogs

Thanks for your help.

Any pics Screw2004? I've been looking to lower my '05 4x4 somewhere around the 3" mark as well.

To lower mine and enhance my marital harmony, I put 17" wheels on and went with the Ground Force 2" drop shackle kit. The rear sits 1" higher than the front now and it looks perfect. The ride quality improved some from the weight transfer to the rear.

Screw2004,
Why so many different ride heights? Did you run into problems with any of them?
I checked out the Mcgaughy's website when I saw their add for an Escalade, I figured if they do AWD Escalades they must do 4x4 F-150s, however, I could only find a 2/4 kit. What are you using/have you used to lower the front end?

I lowered my '05 supercrew 4X4, the ride quality is much better now, especially in handling. It does not bottom out, and dropping it down just 3" in the rear and 2" in the front helps my 4 year old and pregnant wife get into the truck much easier.

I went with the full Roush suspension/handling kit, and had it installed at a ford dealership. Now I don't have to sweat any issues with warranty work since it was bought and installed by ford. I do plan to adjust it though, so the whole warranty benefit can be thrown out the window soon. I plan to take out the 2" blocks in the rear and install a pair of air bags for towing. I'd also like to swap out the front Roush coils to something else that gives me an extra inch of drop so I can have a 3/5 drop. The 2/3 made a nice difference, but I'd like to go a little lower for looks. The Roush kit is probably the most expensive out there, aside from a full airbagged system, but it is worth it.

As far as lowered 4X4's, I live in Alaska, and have all the ground clearance I need with a truck, even if it is lowered a little bit. The main reason I have a 4X4 is for the roads, which are slick about 5 months out of the year.
