How do you get this interior panel off??

It's the panel right underneath the cigarette lighter. It's a single panel that has a tiny useless shelf. Slants inward from the top. I can't find any screw holes. Any info would be great. I'm thinking of cutting some of this out for a CB radio. This is an 04 Scab XLT

Pull off the surround that goes around the HU, heater, lighter, etc. You may first want to remove the ashtray. It just falls out after that.

I don't have an ashtray. And what is the HU (I'm sure it's obvious...).

Here is a pic of my dash. The panel is right under the cigarette lighter.

From the picture it looks like he doesn't have any cup holders. His are on the floor by the 4x4 shifter.
Looks like he's trying to remove that little cubby hole.

I've got the same setup. There is a lighter but no ashtray.
Just pull off the plastic piece surrounding the radio and climate control. I had to grip mine from the top. Just pull straight out, held in by clips. About six of them. Be careful to not rip the airbag light wire off. It unclips.
Once you've done that there are a couple screws holding on the little tray you are talking about. Can't get that piece out without removing the surround. Good luck...

You dont need to take anything out to get that off. Just press on the bottom of the shelf (with your fingers inside the cubbie hole) and pull. It pops right out.

No, don't just pull on that piece.
I just replaced my HU and tried to get that piece off myself. You can't because there are two screws behind the radio surround. This only applies if you do NOT have an ashtray...(most F150's have an ashtray and they're different)
It takes about 5 seconds to pull off the surround. Don't worry, just pull straight out, it won't break. Then two screws hold on the little cubby.

FYI- I have a regular cab with the airbag on/off switch in that cubby. Mine may be different but I believe all trucks with no ashtray and floor shift transfer have the same lower dash setup.

I don't have an on/off switch for the airbag, but other than that yeah...just the small "cubby hole"

Thanks guys!!

Not a switch, a light. I
The wire is short, and looks easily broken.
