Unhappy Missing Ford emblem . . .

Can you believe this sheet?!?

I'm washing the truck today, get around to the back and the Ford emblem on the tailgate has been pried from it's mounting plate and is hanging half off! WTF? What the hell's wrong with people?

Anyway . . .

It took me a good ten minutes to pull the thing completely off using a hair drier and some elbow grease. You'd be surprised how tuff those thing s are to get off . . . probably why the bastards gave up. LOL! It's some type of thin sheet metal or aluminum with the Ford logo somehow bonded onto it. Because of that, it's all warped now and will not go back on as it was.

There are tiny pry marks on the RHS corner of the surround but that doesn't bother me. At least the body [tailgate] wasn't damaged, right?

I'm trying to find a new badge, but one or two questions --

1. Instead of the factory blue, is there a billet type badge that has that "polished" or "chrome" look to it?

2. Can I just purchase the Ford emblem bit - the bit that I peeled off - or is it sold as a complete item with the chrome surround mounted onto the tailgate? I'm trying to avoid taking that mounting plate off.

3. Where can I purchase this bit? A URL would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

That sucks man. If you want a billet logo go to Billet Badges and get him to make you whatever you want. Do a search, there was a thread about his emblems and everyone here was very pleased with them.

I have an extra f150 tailgate emblem if you're interested, you will need new adhesive backing though.

Edit, sorry, just realized you are talking about the blueoval.

That does blow...someone left me a gift as well, when washing my truck i noticed on the bottom of the tailgate below the Ford emblem is a scratch (all the way down to the metal) it measures about 6" long.

Thanks [again] for all the assistance people.

I've used a couple of the links provided in this thread and am in contact with them and am hoping something will eventuate soon.

I've got my guy at the local muffler shop looking out for me too.

SoundPer4mance,

What is your email address?

Seeing as though you claim the emblem and the plate is one piece [that sux BTW], how on earth does the plate on the tailgate come off? I did pull the metal plate on the inside of the tailgate off when removing the damaged emblem - as I thought it may be easier if I pulled the whole thing off - but all I saw was the reverse of the tailgate latch/handle.

Does it come off from the front or is there some "trick?"
