If you want less miles on the truck, order one. I did, and when I picked it up it had just 4 miles on the Od, and I watched them drive it off of the car hauler. But it really didn't matter because it only took me 2 days to put 200 miles on it (and it got broke in bouncing off of the speed limiter on the way home from the dealership). Besides, it was back at the dealership just 4 days later with 400 miles on it because of a failed brake master cylinder (that was a scary incident).

Point is, 200 miles is nothing, and it is hard to hurt one of these truck in that short amount of time. If anything is wrong with the truck, they will fix it. You will just put miles on the truck anyway (I've got 12,000 on mine in just 6 months)

I bought a 2004 Escape Limited AWD for the wife. to get the color and options we wanted, it had to be driven 180 miles. I thought that was no big deal as they said the warrenty started at milage I took delivery at. It took 2 days for it to be delivered and we went down to pick it up. It was raining when we got there. Because of the rain we just did a quick walk around and test drive. All seamed well. It was Friday night. On saturday we got up and started looking it over. The back cargo area was covered with dog hair. ( I love dogs, but It should have been up to us if we wanted a dog in the car) about a month later I pulled the cig lighter out to plug in the charger for my phone.........Who ever drove it to the dealership had used it to light what looked like a pack of cigs, we don't smoke. We called the dealership to complain each time and were offered free oil changes to comensate, but I see this as a lack of respect by who ever the hired to drive it, and an oil change does not make up for that.
If I were you I would go get it yourself and have the piece of mind..

They drove my last F-150 from Tennessee to Arkansas. I had about a 5 mile drive home from the dealership and it overheated!!! Go figure. I was afraid they drove it hot the whole way, but the motor never gave me a minutes trouble in the 130K I drove it.

Let them drive the truck, it's just easier that way...

The only time I've seen cars transported was a MB transporter that only carried AMG vehicles and this truck was GPS tracked and the whole 9 yards.

Here is a story...

A girl bought a mustang, threw a fit that she didn't realize the car was being drove down, the sales man tried explaining that the guy was retired but she didn't believe him at all. Well it turns out she joins a local mustang club and the guy that drove her car down is the president

My truck was driven 200 miles to be delivered to my house. I didn't belive them when they told me about the retired guy, but when he showed up, he was doing about 5MPH down my street with a whole line of traffic behind him. He dropped off my truck and drove my trade in back to the dealership. The next day, after driving it all day, I signed the papers and they sent someone to come pick them up.

You probably don't want to know about the burn-outs and do-nuts the factory monkeys do when they move the truck from the end of the assembly line to the parking lot.

Or the additional stunts the railcar loading baboons pull getting the truck onto that transporter.

Or the additional abuse from joy rides where the truck is now.

Heck, they probably even reflashed the PCM for ya for grins, washed it with a 3000psi pressure washer and applied Wal-Mart cheap wax, buffed off with an old shop rag. After the bird poop was left on the paint to bake for a while.

If anything the 'damage' has already been done. Get over it.

Take a bus, hitch a ride.. whatever.

Road trip & test drive. Go get your truck and enjoy it.

You are 100% correct in this!

We have anywhere between 5000 and 9000 Dodge Rams and Caravans parked on our property here at work. One of the tenants job is to provide the logistics of getting these vehicles which are made in Fenton, MO to the appropriate dealer......I can attest to the fact that these boneheads moving the vehicles are tearing them up.....It amazes me each and every day to watch these people drive a brand new 40k+ vehicle like it is some POS work truck......

I drove my Expy almost 200 miles when they found it. No big deal to me since I was the one driving, not some kid that didn't want to go on a trip so now he's gonna "drive" your new vehicle. Think nothing of it and go get your truck.

This is not directly related to this topic, but none the less a good story...
My friend took his truck to a shop (non-dealer) for engine work, (dropped it off on a Friday), they kept it over the weekend, when he picked it up the following Monday the odometer had 350 additional miles on it. About 2 weeks later he got a bill for a parking ticket in the mail, from San Francisco....lol

Situation resolved

The situation is resolved!

First of all, I want to thank ALL of you for the super feedback I got on this. Later on down the line you all might wanna run me outta here, because I will be here a LOT!!

The head manager of the dealership called me a little while ago and told me to remedy the situation, he would have someone drive me to the dealership, and I drive my truck back myself. I will be at the dealership at 9am this Saturday, for the ride to pick up my baby.

I really do want this truck. It has the color I want, the size bed I want, and since towing my 6x12 enclosed trailer with two motorcycle in the trailer, and maybe one in the truck bed, is its main job, the Towing Package, along with the Heavy Payload package and 4:10 LS, going to make towing dam easy work.

Again, thanks a zillion for all the HELPFUL responses.

no need to search all over again, simply find out which dealer that is (the one 150 miles away), and contact them to see if they are willing to sell it to you at or even beat the current OTD price you got from the other dealer.

personally I don't see the big deal, I bought brand new trucks that had a few miles on them. Mine had 70 miles on it from test drives I guess. And previously I bought a Sport Trac and they drove it back from another dealer 200 miles away. and the same story as others are saying, supposedly some old retired guy drives it back for them.

My last two new trucks were both the results of dealer trades and both have been excellent vehicles. I can understand a dealer not letting a customer make the trade due to liabilities. If you are unsure, have the dealer arrange a meeting with the person making the trade; you most likely going to find they are a respectful and mature individual.

If you are worried about the truck being abused, I would be more concerned with you dealer's new car prep and detail people than the person making the dealer trade.

Glad it worked out for you. I had the same situation as you when I bought mine.

They found exactly what I wanted.... in Charlotte NC. My truck had 546 miles on it when I took delivery. It's 540 miles from there to here.

I had the option you took, but that's not exactly a short trip and I didn't have the vacation days to spend on it. There was an older gentleman that went out and back the same day to get my truck.

I trusted my dealership and in doing so, they've bent over backwards to do things for me since.

All of my warranty was reworked to start from time of delivery for me.

On this deal, the old gentleman is me!!!! I am glad this one worked out too. Also, it was good to see that I was not the only one caught up in something like this, and felt the same way. That makes me normal!

Trying to get a HD grill and bedliner on it right away, and I got some 24s line up to throw on there too. Yeah, the old man is going to bling at that next motorcycle trackday..Bling, bling and bling!!

I did a road trip over the Rockies on a long weekend to pick up my truck. I bought it while it was enroute from the factory to Kelowna BC which is about 550miles from here. I purchased it from a local dealer, made a deal that I would pick it up out there and my dealer would install the line-x when I got it home, detail it completely, and fill it with gas. It had 4km on it, first time I seen it, it was dirty with the white stickers all over it. I was so excited I even helped that dealer clean it up, then we had a sweet cruise all the way home to get to know it.
