I tow a 20ft steel deck car hauler and my 85 Toyota PU usually once a month to go off roading. I figure I am around 6k and it does fine. I would make sure whatever you get, that you purchase a brake controller. I have one in my F150 and it helps tons. Just got back from deer hunting and I towed it 150 miles at 70-75mph and it did great. Plus I had all my hunting and camping equipment. I might have a couple pics of my setup and the deer I killed.

I tow a 26' fifthwheel with my 04 5.4 dry weight on the trailer is 5400lbs I don't have a problem towing it, yah you know its back there but it doesn't beat the truck up, on average it pulls out of O.D on the freeway at 2200 rpms at around 60 and gets a solid 10mpg, hilly area's burns a little more gas but I can keep the rpm's below 3000 on the grades and maintian speed.

Thanks for all the responses...... Would the tuner, intake and exhust help much? I was thinking about that Harley Davidson F-150 would be pretty sweet pulling the race car. Still not sure which way to go.

The weight you are pulling will not be a problem, but the amount air you will pushing will be. Saw this a few years ago when we towed to Denver. I had a Tahoe with an open trailer and a friend had the same year and powertrain Suburban with a 20ft enclosed trailer. Across Wyoming with any wind he could do no more than 55; the Tahoe could easily do 70 in the same areas.
The 5.4 will pull it safely, but probably not as fast or economically as you would like.
