Holy Cow!!! Reflash = Fuel!!!!

Well, I've had this beast for two years next week and for those of you who have been here that long will remember the crap I was going throught with the dealer over 9-12 mpg highway.

If you recall, they told me that their computer was reading that my truck was getting 19-20 mpg and that it was because of my driving habits that I was getting the poor fuel economy. I battled with this for two years!!! Well I let time go by and tracked all of my consumption since March 31st. Every Fill up and all the info.

I took my truck to a different dealer out of town and they took her for a run... Their computer said that I was getting 11.9 mpg highway. They said that was not acceptable and reflashed it. I took a 490 mile trip. Before the reflash I got 340 miles to 360 on a 28 gallon run. This time I got 453 miles on a 28 gallon run!!!

16.2 MPG on the highway running 75 MPH!!!!

This is AWESOME!!!! I CAN't SAY ENOUGH!!!!

Just wanted to let someone know of my wonderful trip.

I can handle 16.2 much better than 12!!!

I went to the dealer last week to see about a reflash for mine and he said i would need to look at my vin #. My reg. cab 5.4 is only getting about 10 mpg in the city and at most 15mpg highway. My dad's lariat gets better than that. I know my gears are different but w/ weight of his truck they should at least be even and mine should be better on highway w/ 3.55 gear ratio. Guess im going back next week.

off subject: Yellow where did you get the heated seats? Were they hard to install? Did you just get the bottom warmers or the lower back warmers as well? Let me know. Thanks, glad to see the reflash is working I got similar results with mine as well after the reflash.

Hey Yellow, good to hear from you again. I remember all the trouble you were having and Im glad to hear you finally have gotten it fixed and are back on par with the rest of us on mileage. Now try to make the "other" dealership pay for all the wasted gas because of their inept abillities. Heres wishing you great mileage (for these trucks) for a long time.

Thumbs up

That does it! I'm emailing my (personal) dealership service tech to let him know this is on my list of things he has to do on my next visit. No ifs, ands, or butts!

I know this will sound bad, but what do you have to do when you want a dealership to reflash ur truck? just tell them, and if its still under warranty, will that cover the cost?

hmm, after I had a reflash done about two months ago, my gas mileage has gone downhill. I get about 13-14 mpg going 75 on the highway. Was their a tsb number or something to tie this gas mileage reflash to?

I remember all your old posts too. So this was the very first time you had a reflash?

Let's start off here:

adaniels88 - I had the heated seats done by: www.classicsofttrim.com and they are just the butt warmers (I believe).

jdgore2 - I'm not sure about how that works. I asked my dealer to do a reflash. I told him about my radio spiking and the shudder when I'm idling sometimes. They decided to do something about it then.

SteveVFX4 - Yep, they never did a reflash before this because there wasn't anything wrong (according to the other dealer).

I had mine reflashed a week ago yesterday, for all of those who just had theirs done 6 wks ago or so. I don't know if things have changed since then.

Tell ya what though, I'll be near dead before I let the dealer touch it again! I want to keep what I have now and no one will be allowed near it!!!
