Skyjacker 3inch lift

Im considering getting a lift but not a full 6 inch lift. Does anyone have any info on the skyjacker 3 inch lift?? Does it really make a difference compared to just a leveling kit? Its seems like a decent price too. Does anyone have any pics of how high it really is?

will i be able to run 35's with minor trimming

Just use the search feature. There has been quite a bit of talk about that kit in the last months or so.

I installed the skyjacker 3" on my 2wd a couple weeks ago. No problems to speak of. I got a full 3" up front and about 2" out back with the add-a-leafs. Ride has definately stiffened up. I'm running 17x9 procomp 1069 wheels with procomp 33/12.5/17 tires.

Do you have any pic of your truck, I had the 2'' leveling kit but I want to go to the 3'' SJ because of the dreaded rub.

i would think that the rub would be worst with the 3" SJ.... you are lifting the truck another 1/2" and pulling the upper front a-arms in even more. The only way I could see it not rubbing is if the diameter or the SJ springs are smaller. The only way to get rid of the rub are longer upper a-arms...

I have a AutoSprings leveling kit and I see slight rubbing on the spring from the upper a-arm.... not a big deal. Im leaving my Kit on.

I also have the 3" skyjacker, they address the rubbing in their installation instructions. The have you turn the coils a certain way while putting the new coilovers together, and the may be a little smaller in diameter, but not positive. I have had no rubbing issues, and have compressed the front suspension quite a bit while driving. I also got a full 3" in front, and 2" out back after the lift.

Your right about bringing the upper a-arms in even more. That's my only complaint with the kit. The angle of the upper arms is pretty steep. But they do address the clearance issues in the instructions.

My rational as to why you sea the a arm contacting the spring on the spacer lifts and not the SJ (even though it is 1/2" longer) is as follows:

Spacer Lift
The stock shock is say 18" long (for conversations sake) and the spring seat is at fixed point 6 " above the bottom of the shock. When you place the spacer in the upper portion of the spring (to gain the lift) you get the entire 2 1/2" of lift from the upper portion of the set up pushing the sping in the path of the a arm articulation.

3" Skyjacker
The replacement set up is say 20" long and the spring seat for the coil would be at a point 8" above the bottom with the coil actually being approx. 1 1/2" longer than stock. When you combine the two you gain the inital 1 1/2" from the longer coil and the remainder two fron the length of the set up all the while keeping the lower portion of the spring seat close to the stock position, thus eliminating the A arm contacting the coils.

I am getting this by looking at various picture of the set ups on this board. If you look at one of the pictures in this post I belive there is a good shot of the set up from under the truck and I think it wil help with the visual of my staments.

Again this is my $0.02 so If any one has better understanding let me know for I am always willing to listen and learn.

HMFIC has a pic. in his gallary of the set up and the gold portion of the shock is what I am refering to as macking the set up longer than stock.

Is the fact that they have stiffened up the ride a bad thing??? I too am thinking of getting this kit for my 2wd, along with 18X9's and 33" terra graplers, but don't want to sacrifice ride quality...What do you think?

Also, where can I find this kit? and any idea on installation costs?

If your real attatched to the factory soft ride then this kit is probably not for you. I read on here somewhere that the 4x4s ride nicer with this kit but my 4x2 rides pretty stiff. It's not unbearable but it ain't factory either. I got it online from rocky mountain suspension for around 6 and change plus rear shocks. I did the install myself. It does look good though.

For those of you who are curious of the height difference between the Skyjacker 3" and a 6" lift. Here is a little comparison.

FRONT Skyjacker 3" = 40" ---------- FABTECH 6" = 44

REAR Skyjacker 3" = 42" ---------- FABTECH 6" = 43"
