Can This Thing Be this Slow 0-60?

Tried a couple of runs on the G Timer. I have a loaded lariat, 20's, 305/55/20s, 3.73 gears, hard bed cover, yadayadayada. SCT performance factory tune and Borla exhaust are the only mods. My 0-60 times were 9.32 and 9.45, both quarter mile times were 17.05. I'm shocked the 0-60 was so slow. I have to take some more runs before I s/c it, but day yum. My Jeep TJ inline 6 4.0 ran a 8.75 pulling out of my neigborhood onto another road. I have my work cut out for me to make this thing respectable. Rousch, tune, gears and headers should make a dent I guess.

Well, gear the jeep up as high as you geared the truck (33-34 inch tall tires, gearing moved to about the 350 range) and add the five hundred extra pounds of mods (hard tonneau and hugely heavy wheels and tires) and see how it does.

I drove a Grand with the bigger V8 and 5 speed auto a couple months ago, really thrashed it. They can be pretty quick, but it got worse gas mileage than my F-150.
Plus it honestly didn't handle as well.

If you want to go quickly, lighter is always gonna be better.

I added 32 inch tires, plus about 200 pounds of winch and bumper, and it's an inline 6 4.0 vs a 5.4 v-8. Anyway, screw it (pun intended) it's not apples to apples. I am just shocked at the differnce. And the heavy Weld wheels, 26 lbs. Granted that he wheel AND tire combo weighs more, but the wheels, compared to factroy, I don't know. Bet they are lighter.

I thought that I wasn't adding much weight to my wheels when I went to 18 from 17, as the tires were the same diameter (Actually a .4 increase) but I ended up adding almost 20 lbs a corner. And the tiny gear up hurt my launch noticeably.

Still, it really does seem that your truck is just a tad slower off the line than the average. Are you allowing for altitude?

Plus, are you testing in the same location each time?

Back in 90 when I first got an inertial reader (Veritech 200) I got confusing readings until I started only testing on one stretch of pavement, in one direction. Anything else was/is that old apple to banana thing.

Oh well, a supercharger is its own excuse...

Your truck is probably at least 6,000 lbs without you in it. My screw is 5600 lbs and I don’t have a hard tonneau or big tires

I'll play with it some more and post up. I really should have waited, but I was a bit amazed with the 0-60 especially. I do need to find one place to do all runs for consistency, and my sample (2) was admittedly scant. Still, dog **** slow is dog **** slow.

You have to decide... do you want it fast.. or do you want it raised high in the air.

You're riding on 33.2" tires and fat 20" wheels.. they weigh alot and slow you down...

Lose some rolling wieght or buy some gears man.. then You'll drop a couple seconds on the 0-60

There are so many variables.... weather, engine temps, surface, blah blah blah... my best runs were posted, but I've done about 30 since I got my g-timer in various conditions. Worst 0-60 you ask? 10.5 seconds.... nearly 100 degrees with the ice blowing cold... ahhhh....

Why is everyone so hung up on speed with a pick-up truck?

those 0-60 times do seem a bit on the slow side, but that ET looks kust about right to me considering your setup. i bet stock wheels and tires would cut half a second or more off those times

I'll find out, 'cause i still have them. I'll have to try a run with stock tries and wheels, no hard cover, and no spare.
