changing interior pieces

My first question was going to be can I replace the middle seat with a console but that got answered by reading FX4&Excursions post.

My next question is where can I locate the center dash strip and door insert pcs? My lariat has these pieces in wood finish but I would prefer to have them in black.

I got my spare surround and ashtray on e-bay. It took a long time looking though.
I just picked up a new door panel in black, but the strip you are showing as wood is shiny chrome on the one I bought.

Someone will surely want to trade their pieces for the wood. You might place an ad in the classifieds of this forum. Since they were 'upgraded' they are pretty good.

I don't think you can swap out the center dash piece for now due to the Lariat having the electronic climate control. It has a different oval shape than the other dash piece for the manual climate controls.

Id love to trade my black pieces for that wood, but I dont have the climate control, so there would be a mismatch. I would say EBAY. www.f150store.com sells trim too, but I think their stuff is mostly wood trim for those wishing to upgrage.

Why couldn't you take them off and have them painted?
Find a good shop and it wouldn't cost too much. Shoot, you might be able to do it yourself...

Someone here has already done this a week or two ago. Look around this forum, they removed the peice and painted it black, looked great.

Just prep and paint them the color of your choice.
I plan to do this to the trim, and the big plastic pieces around the radio and vents as well as the wood door pieces.

Painting might work out OK, but these are plastic glossy and an exact match for the other pieces.
Seems like re-inventing the wheel.

As to using the climate control versus the three dials, it's the same surround. Look closely at the climate control, notice it is dumbell shaped. So is the three switch piece. I have a spare right here and if you pull the manual controls the hole left in the surround matches the climate control.

Ford did a heck of a job making these things interchangable.

I don't see what you mean, any pics for reference would greatly help.

:o
Sorry I made a mistake there, looking at the wrong part. I have a faceplate from a 500 (supposedly, different way of mounting, and one from a 2004 F-150, they were both wrapped in bubble wrap, and I picked up the wrong one. Both are black, look almost the same.
The one from the 2004 F150 is different, the one from the 500 has the dumbell shaped thingy. Got it off ebay for a couple little parts, and kinda forgot I had it.
Been a long weekend for me, apoligies to anyone confused.
The manual control on the F-150 is oddly shaped, not oval like the pictures of the Lariat climate control.

Again, whoops. :o

I have too much junk around here.

RMJeff,
If and when you change out your center 20% for a console, do you plan on getting rid of the 20% section? If so I might be interested. I plan on changing my interior over to leather seats and I will need the leather covers for the center 20%
