King Ranch or Lariat? Opinions wanted
King Ranch or Lariat? Opinions wanted
OK, here is the situation. I ordered a black on black Lariat w/ chrome package in July. It has been produced but has been waiting on running boards for the past three weeks, and they are on back order.
Today I spoke with the dealer about a King Ranch which they are unloading right now. It is Darkstone, with 20" wheels and pretty much everything I ordered except homelink. No biggie, I have a garage door opener.
Here is the problem, I haven't really seen any King Ranch's in person. I am going tomorrow to look at this one, but from the pictures I have seen, I am not sure I love the interior, plus the extra $1900 that it costs.
What do you guys think? Is it worth it, will I regret not getting a KR? or am I just anxious to get into a new truck.

I certainly don't. I wanted black on black and thats what I got, and couldnt be happier with it. If the KR isn't what you want dont get it just because its there...waite on what you want because you will have to live with it for a long time.
KR has real leather on all seats. It's a personal call if you like the interior color.
Basically, I see the KR stuff as cosmetic stuff add-ons on a cosmetic laden Lariat other than the wheels and real leather. But I do think the 20" wheels would be a nicer looking setup.
Do you feel like spending an extra $1900? If not, then Lariat is for you. Otherwise, enjoy the KR.

I regret not waiting another year for the king ranch.
Yes I think the leather is the *****. The seats on the kr are all true leather, as the lariat is clearcoated and just the part your behind and back touches is leather. The sides are vinyl. I think the whole rear bench even may be vinyl in the lariats??
Well worth the extra $ for the smell and ohhhhhhh factor when you get in.

I would at least go look at it. You never know. If it were me, I would wait for what I ordered, since im not abig fan of the KR leather. Its real dark brownish, redish..whatever they call it. I like the setup the wheels and everything else, i just dont like that leather. Now if they offered it in Black Leather, Id be all over it.

First, the King Ranch **IS** a Lariat.
Secondly, the King Ranch is a bit more work than your standard interior. As the other guys have mentioned, the Castano Leather seating surfaces encompass EVERYTHING within the interior that is brown (minus the vinyl over the instrument cluster); even the arm rest in the rear is Castano.
Obvoiusly, the level of care that you put into it will help it maintain it's degree of beauty... that is, if you think the KR interior is a thing of beauty.
I'm on King Ranch number two at this point (I had a 2001 SuperCrew as well)... it's an addiction at this point...
Feel free to email me with any questions or simply respond to this thread.... there are also a BUNCH of rabid KR fans in our King Ranch forum (which is also the home of the International King Ranch Ford Truck Owners Club (KROC for short) which is a recognized club of enthusiasts endorsed by both King Ranch and by Ford...)

Yes, I have thought of all that leather. Honestly, I probably don't take as good care care of my leather now, as I should. Castano would probably be overkill.
Being black on black, my current truck get real hot, really fast in the summer. I thought that the Smokestone and Tan interior might help out a little bit.
How does the tan interior hold up with showing dirt? The black interior shows almost every speck of dirt.
