Since I park mine in my garage 75% of the time, a defroster is not really necessary. Also, whenever I see one without the slider, I wonder "Couldn't he afford the slider?" The solid rear window just looks cheap to me...but that's just me.

Since my slider rattles like crazy I wish I had the one piece solid. No molding to rub against the cab and make noise.

I wanted a truck with the solid rear window, and I'll always have one with the solid rear window. Here's why:
  • I wanted a rear defroster. Yeah, I live in Georgia, but we do get frost from time to time.
  • Security. I've broken into a lot of rear sliding windows before (legally).
  • Cost. Better consider an ESP plan if you're gonna keep your truck with the power slider for a while...the motor is not serviceable seperately at this point in time, it's available only with the complete window/track/regulator assembly, and it lists at about $1100.
Besides, it looks better to me. And doesn't rattle.

I have never had any rattles with my power slider. Also If someone wants into your truck bad enough that solid rear widow is not going to stop them.
As far as the options I have this one is the best "gimmic". I do live in florida so defroster is not needed. A cool breeze is!!
Also I cant see anyone having an easy time getting through this thing any way
Unless they are 95 lbs

Hands down -- a solid back window with the defroster.

I think the sliding rear windows look "clunky" -- I like the clean look of the solid window much better!

power slider with power sunroof all the way, awesome ventilation without rolling down your side windows

I've opened my slider several times in warmer weather....only to close it a couple minutes later because I could not stand to hear all of the rattling that came from the bed of the truck. I'm guessing that most of the rattling is coming from the factory ford bedliner, but it's very annoying. For now my vote goes to the non-slider window with defrost.

I like my slider with the heated mirrors. I live in Arkansas where it maybe snows once a year and it's hot most of the time so I open it when I'm riding around with the windows open. It's also nice when you need to throw a can in the bed. I wish I would have gotten one with the moonroof though. I really like those.

ford should come up with a rear window like the tundra. that's the best of both worlds, clean look and you can put the whole thing down.

I like the sliding rear window but if the whole window came down that would be awsome!!

They have, problem was it was in a Sport Trac and not an F150. And even in the Sport Trac, it's somewhat problematic since the window motor has a Hall effect switch in it for the one touch up/down feature that commonly fails.

I have the slider. Mine doesn't rattle at all, but I find I never use it and I don't think it looks as "clean" as a solid window (both from the inside and outside). I wish that I would have not gotten it. Unless you have a particular use for the slider.....I would opt for the solid window. JMHO

An electric rear window would be awesome but until then I'm all for the solid one piece window.

The power slider.. that way I can see what my labrador is up to back there and he can also hear my voice commands. Plus, he looks really cute when he sticks his head through it to say hello!

When its all the way open, it really does move the air around inside if needed.
