What was your point with this question, or was it simply a dig or what.
I'm guessing it has simply to do with the way you worded your post. Go read it again - it gives the impression you read not just every single post about the AF1, but every single post on all of f150online.

I read it that way too.

Hey, I'm getting rid of my Volant because the noise factor isn't worth the price. So, it's a great deal to somebody who likes the sound. Go check out Ebay and search for Volant.

If you chose to read it that context, that is your option. I think you knew what was meant from the posting.

Now with that being said, I still have to ask the question "What's your point" Are you indicating that you prefer the AF1, you were confused, or just trying maintain some pot stirring to keep the kettle boiling as so many seem to do here.

I was attempting to express my experience in researching the available information on this site as it pertains to the choices of Air Intake Systems.

Wow, I hope this clears this up, but I doubt it will. I'm sure someone will choose to read between the lines to put a different spin on it.

If seems if you post a product choice on here that doesn't seem to be in the mainstream with what a few people on this site think is proper you are going to catch hell. WHY?

AF1 install problems (name of the thread)

So tell us exactly what problems you encountered during your installation of the AF1
I’m curious as to what your first hand experience was

Well I can tell you my AF1 sucked as well. Had to file/dremmel out the MAS opening since that can't measure right and that tube inseart was too long... and my heat sheild has the same issues with the screw hold alignment. Plus the had to bend the heat shield some since it was making contact with other parts in the engine bay creating even more unnessary noises under the hood. Fit and finish really are poor. And the photocopied instructions scream 'mom & pop' operation. I've been second guessing this purchase every time I mash the gas... and that's often.

Even though I was fortunate to have an easy install I'm still debating whether I made the right decision. The noise is almost unbearable.

Yeah, but that's a post-install problem. If my soundproofing project doesn't make it better I think it's going up on e-bay or something...

I wasn’t to excite either when I had to file out the MAS hole but performance wise, it’s everything it was cracked up to be and mine isn’t noisy either until I hit it hard and also no cruising noise whatsoever. What about RP, how has his AF1 been treating him? I don’t doubt for one second everything negative you say that happened, happened D. There are many unanswered questions about the tube too. Why wouldn’t every tube be identical to the prototype that passed the yearlong R&D? I’m just happy mine worked out but for everyone that is dissatisfied AF1 should set things straight and return your money IMO

I have no cruising noise either. I personally feel the performance gains are minimum. But then again, it was the last mod I did, so it's effect wouldn't be as pronounced as the others, nor would it deliver the full 20-25hp or whatever.

Like JP I don't doubt others are very happy with the kit and don't have these issues. Chit happens. BTW, how was your heat shield JP?

Didn’t have any issues at all with the heat shield installation; one of the nylon screws got broken during shipping but I replaced it with a stainless steel screw I got from ACE

From: ???.....depends on the day
granted, these boards tend to magnify the negative side of stories....but my anticipation of ordering an AF1 has drasically been cooled off with some of these recent postings on the performace and overall craftsmanship of this product....so....until the overall posts tend to shift in a more positive tone........

I had the Xcal and Magnaflow muffler for several months before the AF1. That was my last mod on the *bang for the buck* list but I noticed a huge power gain difference immediately on the first test-drive.

go figure

If negative posts were to sway opinion, nobody would drive a 04. There are thousands of negative posts about vibration problems and everything else imaginable (ashtray noise, leaks, squeaks, A/C, tires, seats, tailgate, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc)
