Auto-dimming rear view mirror

Does anyones mirror ever come on (little green light is on)? I think maybe mine is not working correctly because it never seems to come on. I checked the manual and it is supposed to be "Auto". Does anyone know what triggers the unit to turn on (headlights on, dark out, etc.)?

The "off" button turns it off, and it you press the one that says "Auto" you will activate it (turn it ON) and the little green light will illuminate indicating that it is on... The only thing "auto" about it is that when headlights hit it at night, it will automatically darken the glare.....

Mine has no button, it just says AUTO next to the indicator. I looked for one since all my other cars have had a soft touch button to turn it on/off but no dice on this one.

I will look again though just in case my eyes are fooling me.

My truck is an '04 and has the off button next to the auto. But come to think of it my wifes Jaguar has the same mirror and has NO off button on it....Try pushing in on where it says "auto"....

The 05's don't have a button, it works automagically. My 04 does have an OFF and Auto.

Do a search, you'll find someone else started a thread on this very subject about a week ago.

I have an XLT '04 Scab. Is the green button actually supposed to be illuminated/there's a bulb there?
