Done had it for now!

I guess I've said my piece about this issue. Some agree and some don't. Their choice! For the most part I have enjoyed most of everyone's input except maybe the few sarcastic remarks that have popped up now and then. They really don't add much to the information other than to get everyones hackles up.

So let us keep the information flowing and share your experence with everyone else. Thats the great thing about having a forum like this.

Say something like a special area for F150online Member of the Month on the main page. I think I'll forward my idea to the webmaster.

As one of the guys who is tasked with managing the site, I'm often looked to with the problems and other negative aspects that might come along with a large member base like we have. I think it's important to sway that paradigm on occasion and give credit where it's long since due (and overdue)...

I want to thank you on behalf of the members and participants that frequent f150online.com. I see you around in several forums on our site selflessly answering lengthy questions with very detailed information. You exemplify what a online enthusiast community message board is supposed to be all about. You're a HUGE asset to our site and we appreciate all that you do.

If we ever cross paths, the first couple of rounds are on me.

Why are you guys wanting to pull plug so early? They're design-rated to 100K miles. With modern unleaded fuels you aren't going to get much carbon build at all. Certainly not enough to cause any performance issues IMHO.

I recently had a coil pak go bad on my older 2000 F150 on (of course) cyl # 8. Pulled that to replace it and took a look at the plug under it (79K miles on the truck). The plug looked so good I stuck it back in, even though I had a new one on the bench ready to go.

No plans to change out the plugs early on my 05 FX4 F150. I'll run 'em to 100K!

So will nearly everyone else, with the exception of a very small group that hangs here.

And you'll be pulling heads at the same time. We are not Talking about carbon build up people. We are talking the Plugs are Rusting. If you leave them in until 100k, Then will rust and break off in your heads. Then your pulling heads instead of replacing plugs....

You invented them, huh? Outlasting the engine is debateable, but they will become part of the engine if you don't change them out before 100k- as seen by numerous threads already.

People Removing Plugs Early are "Girlie Men"

It's true!

The only reason you are removing the plugs early is because you are "afraid", yes, afraid of what MIGHT happen at 100K if they are stuck and break off.

Well, I don't live my life in fear.

If Ford designed a serviceable component which cannot be serviced, and if THEY break off a plug or two, or eight when servicing my vehicle at 100K miles as the manual dictates that will be THEIR fault and THEY will pay.

And, I am not afraid of that, and I am not so much of a "girlie man" that I won't get them to eat the cost of removing the plugs if that happens.

Later,
Roy

Im gonna change mine here soon. I had planned on changing them at 50k but I figure I'll do it a little early.

It's been said, and I'll say it again. Spark Plugs are NOT meant to stay in a vehicle for 100k miles.... Period. Yes, they will still work, but not as good as brand new ones. I dont know about you guys, but I spent alot of money on my truck and I want it to perform it's best. Changing the plugs is easy and not that expensive.

I'm sure when 100k miles rolls around on alot of you guy's trucks, you wont change the plugs then either or simply trade off for somthing new.

Theres no reason to persecute someone because they want to change their plugs.
The manual also says to change oil at 5000k miles. I CHANGE MINE EVERY 3000K MILES.. FLAME ME!

Nothing in the truck works as good at 100K as it did when it was new, do we need to do a frame off restoration at that point???

I cannot believe this thread is still alive.

And you'll be the first one that will bitch when you do break off the plugs at 100k miles. Dont come running back here because we told you so.

Never-the-less... If we were running plain old plugs, I'd say forget it until it starts idling bad, etc. But since we know every spark plug pulled from this forum has come out hard, broken and rusted.. you would be foolish to leave them in until 100k unless you plan on trading it and not changing them at all.
