I think I'm going to go to the dealer and inquire about the reflash tomorrow morning. Any suggestions as to how I should go about doing this? Should I just go in and ask for it or make up some bull**** story about throttle lag and junk?

Hi....Unfortunately, if your Service writer (advisor) is like ours.....they tend to want to minimize the Fords cost....seems "some" places have been doing questionable warranty jobs and Dearborn is cracking down on them. We had the reprogram done yesterday on my son's 05 XLT 5.4 but it was not "easy". The magic words seems to be "rough idle"....which was trure. Only the problem comes and goes we told them.....so they do the PCM as part of the "cure" for rough idle. Maybe my dealership has been naughty with warranty work in thw past cuz with our front left F150 fender emble black paint falling off, they had to take digital pics and send them in to FOMCO for approval to replace them....I thought that really odd. The truck seems to shift much better now but thats all we noticed. Good luck.

Well I took my truck to the dealer this morning and being that it only has 750 miles on it they attributed any possible problems I was having to break-in. They said that if I still have those problems when I bring it in for it's first oil change then they will address them then.
Looks like I'm gonna have to drive the hell out of it to 3000 miles so I can get my upgrade!

Recalibrations and the benefits, if any, are dependent on the vehicle. Some trucks already have the latest calibration available, some don't. Some will see huge improvements from an update, some won't. If you don't have a specific problem, there's no real reason that a dealership would have to recalibrate your PCM to the latest and greatest level; if it ain't broke, can't fix it and all. Although I'm one to believe that if a later calibration is available though, you should have it regardless of what problems you may or may not have. It's all relative. I reprogrammed the PCM in my truck a few months ago and I didn't notice any drastic change, other than firming up the transmission shift points just a bit.

I agree with SAJEFFC, the hell with a reflash, XCAL2 is the only way to go. A million times better than what any OEM reflash will give you.
