PCM Update?

I heard there's one out there for the 2004+ that makes the 5.4 feel like 300 horses and improves fuel economy.
Has anybody gotten one, and how did you go about getting it? Just go to the dealer and tell them you want it? And is it worth the time to go get it done?

A lot has been said about the reflash. Do a search for 04-24-14. I think that was the bulletin. It helped mine greatly.

I got my rig done...didnt notice too much....maybe 10%. I guess it is only ones with serious throttle lag, rough idle..etc I wasnt experiencing those problem but I took my truck in and told them I was..go one done, have the sticker under the hood. But to be honest, it was waste of my time.

normally, about an hour. Their computer locked up after it started the process, had to keep it over night. Treated me well and it was very much worth it in my case.

I have a 04, and I got mine reflashed about 2 weeks ago. There is still a lag, but not a whole sec lag, its down to about 3 to 4 10s of a second, which to me is a whole lot better. And just so you know we will never see 300 HP because our shift point is 5,000 RPMs and that is where by factory specs, say we are getting 300 HP. Not to mention we are getting around maybe 270-280 RWHP. Unless you get a tuner then you can make your shift points a little higher. The shift point stuff sucks cause my friend has a titan and his shifts at like 6,000 something and there getting 305 HP at 4,900 RPMs which means there getting full power for alittle more than 1,000 RPMs, and ours don't even reach full power for even 100 RPMs. But I still and will always love This Truck.

It took about thirty minutes to erase the old program and install the new one.

Is there any type of build date restrictions or anything like that?

I brought my truck in for service last week. My complaint was about throttle lag. The service manager and I went for a little drive. He ended up driving it and fully understood the engine was woefully underpowered. They looked for updates and fortunately, I was upgraded to the latest (so they say). Anyways, the results speak for themselves....way better acceleration (you can actually feel the truck move when stomping on the gas), the gas pedal is much more sensitive to touch than before and best thing, gas mileage went up. I use to get about 17mpg doing 75mph on the highway; now's it 19mpg at the same speed. Whatever this PCM upgrade does, it brings the truck alot closer to expectations.

For what it's worth, my truck is 05 Lariat Supercrew.
