Angry Lemon?

Well Im going to try not to make this a long post at all. I dropped my truck off at the dealer on Tuesday to have my steering wheel nibble fixed. The Ford Service Rep came and looked at the truck and told the service manager what they needed to do to fix it. Well I get a call on Friday that its ready and they were able to fix it. So the service manager and I go for a ride and what do you know? Its there and its worse AND now my whole truck shakes between 58-64 bad enough to shake the seats with a person in them. The service manager distinctively looked at the bed to see if it was shaking so she knows whats up with these things. She agreed that it was 10x worse than before and theres something wrong with the truck. She told me to bring it back in on Monday, sure. So I go take my dad to the dealer so we can pick up our 04 Expedition EB for broken AC and a squeaky belt and on the way guess what I discover!? More problems with my truck! So as of right now my truck has the following problems:

- Steering Wheel Nibble
- THE "VIBE"
- Shudder when put into Reverse
- Rear Brakes making noise when I back-up and only when I back up
- Driveline Clunk
- Rear End Whine
- Rear Suspension Squeak

Needless to say, I still feel like Im forgetting some other problems that my truck has. Just for those who were wondering what they did that they said they fixed it, they said they adjusted the pre-load on the rack. Im getting fed up with this completely, this is going to be the 5th time this truck has been into the dealer and Ford better do something about this soon because Im dying. This thing makes me so stressed out, I just want my truck fixed or a new one if they can't fix it! I swear they can't even get one thing fixed before 2 more problems come up in the process of fixing that one thing..

I can imagine your frustration, I know the feeling. It sucks to buy a $30k vehicle and have to take it to the dealer several times a month right after buying it. I bought mine a month ago and its been in 4 times for brake issues, which to this day they say they are fine. Atleast your dealer actually admits there is a problem, mine just denies it. Good luck getting it fixed. I guess my next vehicle will be a honda/toyota

Thump,
Talk to the service MANAGER.
Tell him you want to pursue a buy back
or replacement under the lemon law.
you need to get HIM to file the paperwork
and get the ball rolling dude!

question guys, If Ford did a buy back, how does that work? For example, say you owe 35k on the loan but the truck is only worth 28k? How is the difference made up?

With tire/wheel and suspension mods your lucky they are even working on it to stop the driveline vibes. As long as they were at least working on it I wouldnt become to big of a pain to deal with.

That sucks Thumper, with all the problems I see you getting a new truck in the future. Hopefully a Ford, it would be a shame to see all those add on's on your truck go to waste. Let us know what happens.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well -- with all the mods you've got on that thing I'm amazed the dealer is even attempting to correct the issues you are having. He could easily say they are related to the mods and you'd be up the proverbial creek without a paddle!

Doesn't matter what the loan was for or what it's worth now (blue book). What matters is your purchase price plus any add-ons/upgrades minus any mileage use charge. I'm in the middle of this right now and can hopefully shed some more light on the whole buy back as soon as I receive my paperwork from Ford.

Sorry but the only mods Ford knows about were are the bullbar, lights, alarm, navigation and a few other little things. I took off the leveling kit and Ive been running around stock for a while. Its going back into the dealer tomorrow. I owe $27,000 on the loan as it is right now.

On a side note, went and looked at the Toyotas today. The Tacomas are crap but the Tundras are pretty damn nice. The Tacomas have a nicer interior than the Tundra's but they don't turn as well, stop as well, ride as good, or have any where near the same power. Those Tundras will get white smoke going on some dry pavment!

Yo Thump...

I hear ya bro. Once again, I made the 4 hour trip to Connecticut this weekend to drop my truck off at the dealer. I took the service manager for a ride so he could experience all the problems (he drove it). Rear end whine, that was already fixed..starts at 40mph now and gets worse at 70mph plus. The steering wheel vibe is INSANE!!! pretty much at any speed above 50 now. Rear end shudders when taking off from a start and the infamous clunk. I also now have a fog light thats all fogged up, full of moisture and my rear doors (SCAB) are rippled. While we were on the ride I asked him what he would do if it was his truck..he had no answer. I also told him about the BBB Autoline and that I already filed the first complaint and have the paperwork ready to fill out and send in to get the whole process started. He said to hold off a few days to see if he could get it fixed and if not then I would have another failed visit to the dealership to add to my complaint.

Didnt you file with the BBB Autoline? at this point, I would just follow thru and send all the paperwork back and see what happens.

Let me know.

well good luck with that. My service manager talked to the ford rep 2 weeks ago and he said he wasnt gonna buy the truck back, and didnt offer to do anything else either. Just told him to get the truck back and fix it. I really believe these are great trucks, but every so often something goes wrong and a bad one makes it out of the factory. Unfortunately, for the bad ones, there is no fix and throwing parts at it for a year is not the answer. I just want a new truck now. Im tired of driving a big yellow vibrator, and if its not that, then its a damn Taurus they give me. Thats not good for my rep! ya know!?
