The Icepick in the tank started two or thre gas crunchs ago. About when every car on the road started putting anti syphon necks in them. I havn't had a car you could suck gas out of for 15+ years. Unless you count my motorhome.

Only reason for the locking caps is to stop kids from putting stuff in the tank.
Usally your own kids... Not vandelism, just kids doing stupid stuff.

Oh, and on locking twist gas caps, lock it, make sure it's locked, then grasp the locked cap firmly in your hand, and pulling out HARD untwist it, and see what happens...

My truck was vandalized at 8 days old. The new gas tank that's all ready installed cost $700+ I wish there had been evidence of the damage, I would have been money ahead to just replace that tank.
Now it's waiting on the insurance company to approve a new engine. Repairs have all ready cost over $7000, and now it's waiting on a new engine.
Buy a locking gas cap or door. Or both.

STOP SHOUTING! The CapsLock key is on the left side of your keyboard. Use it.

I got my locking cap from Napa for $21 bucks and change. I think the brand is Balkan or something like that. Looks exactly like the sock one except it has the key hole on top. The factory lanyard fit around it just like on the stock one also. Good deal and now I am secure.

My wife bought mine at the dealer...

... and it works great and was $25. The brand is "Stant" model number 17510. You guys are right about those thieves trying to steal gas. Someone trying to get my gas is what prompted me to make this purchase.

Watch out, cause they are punching holes in the bottom of gas tanks when they cant access the normal way.

Just thought I'd let everyone know, I bought a locking cap @ AutoZone yesterday for $15. Mainly I'm more concerned w/ someone putting something IN the tank.
I wouldn't have bothered posting for something so little but, I was very impressed w/ the quality of this one. CST (cooling systems technologies)brand. I've had Stant before and if you squeeze them as you turn, you could usually take it right off. With this one, you need the key to lock it but, it seems much more secure and is a better design. The part # is 5907.
