I wish $48 would get me 3/4 of a tank of gas. I have the 35 gal tank, filled up yesterday for $89 - ugh! Don't have Pep Boyz here but Checker has Fram FV 502 for $23 - they always seem high on everything. But now that I've got a full tank I can go on a 500+ mile road trip in search of the cheapest gas cap. Anybody want to ride along?

Cool

Why is black no good and white is ok? The Fram I saw was black and didn't have threads - just 3 pegs or nubs and I don't know if it would fit right. Didn't get it, will keep looking, for a white one I guess.

The black fram PN# RG-502 will not fit a 04. As said above it has three nubs
"needs to have two". Fram says it will work but it will not.

I just got off the phone with a rep at Auto Zone, He told me that they had one in stock and the list price on it was $15.29, I asked him if he was sure about this and he went and pulled it off the shelf and read the make and model back to me, 2005 Ford F 150. I am going to go by there tomorrow and check this out. I almost ordered one yesterday from Ford, I am glad I held off on this until I check this one out.

Hey if you guys want that ford locking gas cap you can contact five star ford in AZ they do internet sales or if any wants i can give you their 800 # and and the name of who to speak to or their email for a price quote. The part # listed for the 04 has just changed when I spoke with him on the phone but he is ordering about 10 of them so he will have on hand if you guys called. He said he was unable to find one for the 05's but if you can get a part # he should be able to get it.

I just bought the STANT locking gas cap for my 05, for $14.99 at Pep Boys. Works like a champ, no engine light.

Myst: Thanks for those part numbers.
FYI: stock cap lanyard will work on part number# 11510 "Stant Brand"

Someone mentioned this in an earlier thread. I've not had a chance to update my web page on it, but apparently you can move the factory lanyard to the Stant cap. Myself, I simply prefer to put my cap upside down on the top of the gas pump so I don't run the risk of scratching the paint (though the 2004-2006 F-150 has a small hook on the gas cap hinge to hang the lanyard from.) I'm not quite old enough to forget the cap on the gas pump yet, but I'm sure it is coming any day now.

Actually I think im with you on getting rid of the lanyard. You do run the risk of scratching the paint.
