Get your PCM reflash done!!!!

I had the reflash done, I almost got clobberd in traffic one to many times - I went in, they were doing the 5k service and I said - I have a rough start, and it hesitates when I step on the gas while on the highway. I was asked "for how long does it hesitate" - I said "when that 18wheeler was coming, and I couldn't get out of his way - it seemed like forever" "OK Sir, We'll have that taken care of for you..."
No real fight - just a simple question and a quick answer. I did notice a little difference from a stop but then again I don't aim to spin the tires anyway. I did notice that the truck idles lower, has a much calmer start, and at highway speeds there is still a lag but it is much easier to deal with.
Some have said that it is all in our heads - all it does is reset the PCM - I don't know what it does but I can tell you there is definately something different about the truck - even my nosy neighbor noticed. "hey man your truck doesn't sound like it is going to run away today, did you get it fixed?"
I know they had a itemized list and it was somewhere in the tune of 165$ (don't honestly remember but in that neighborhood) that I didn't have to pay for that work.

Ive been out of town and obviously missed some discussions about this. Is this something only for 05s? My truck has turned off on me twice since I got it back in Nov 04. Both times I was stopped at a red light, and when I went to go, I pushed the gas, and the truck turned off. Does that sound like something that fits into the reflash thing?
Is the reflash for the computer? Im still learning all this stuff about my truck. I must give big props to this website as Im really learning a lot.
Any one of you guys care to explain a little more about the whys and effects of this reflash thing? :o

well I made the appointment to have this reflash done. the service advisor didn't even argue with me over it. just said they would be glad to take care of it. I was a little supprised. I am also haveing my warped rotors taken care of at the same time. yes IxITeLLyIxI the reflash is for the computer system. its basicly a software upgrade for your truck. almost everything in your truck is controled by the computer system. back when I bought my truck my outside temp gauge didn't work right. I heard on here that there was a pcm upgrade to fix this problem. I had my pcm reprogramed and it fixed the outside temp gauge. I look foreword to getting this new pcm reflash. as I have heard good things about it and I am hopeing it might help on the gas mileage a little. those of you with it keep us updated on if it helps on gas mileage or not. thanks.

i wonder if they will do it for my lincoln mark lt, i got the pcm reflashed like 3-4 weeks ago, but i still have the common vibration problems that most f150's have unfortunately when the put the truck in drive or reverse, but i did notice too that my ext. temp gauge is really off, like it said like 100+ before, i live in miami, but it dont get close to 100 here.
