Talking Get your PCM reflash done!!!!

I just had my PCM reflashed per TSB 4-21-14. I was lucky enough to not have to bitch too hard to get it done since I work at a Ford dealer. The latest update as of 8-10-05 was 5L3A-12A650-CGB.

I must say that I noticed an imediate difference in throttle response. I don't know if this is going to cure the tranny feeling like it went into neutral or not since I just got the reflash and the tranny only did that one time. I also decided to add a K&N panel filter to see if I can get a little better fuel ecconomy like some others have.

I'll be able to comment on the gas mileage in a couple of days after I run through this tank of gas. I could only go about 3 days before having to fill up before the reflash and K&N. It would be nice to get an extra day out of each tank full.

Not exactly sure what you mean by drivability from a filter change. I know I have alot more power throughout the power band. Since this filter just slides in and replaces the stock paper filter, I associate the increased throttle response from a dead stop to the reflash. I figure the added get up and go from freeway speed to the filter and reflash combo. No lag at tip in, and way more passing power than I had before.

If I do get a little fuel ecconomy to boot I'll be just thrilled.

I need to get this done but I dont want to get the flash until I bring it in for the first oil change. Now I hope they come out with a flash for better gas mileage.

I keep reading about the reflash on these posts. Does this only affect certain build dates, because mine is a 3/05 build, and Ive never noticed too much throttle lag.
Is this still something I should have done? Sounds like it adds power, which is always good...

Yes, have it done. Even if your truck seems OK, it can't really hurt anything. My build date was 4-05, and I noticed a big difference. You guys with 4-05 build dates might have a tough time getting them to do the reflash because it supposedly didn't affect those trucks, but I can tell you I noticed a difference. I just didn't have to fight with the service guys because I work at the Ford dealership and know all the service guys really well.

Good advice. My brother is a service advisor at a local Ford dealership, so I guess if I can't make this happen, that makes me pretty pathetic. I'll let em have at it.

Mine was built 11/04, the reflash made a huge difference.

My build date is 4/05 on mine. I have an Xcal2 on order so I was wondering if I should even consider getting a reflash done. If I did get a reflash, it would be overwritten as soon as I installed the Xcal2 tune correct?
