I believe most people are using the coolant drain plug on the block, and it's on the drivers side face, rear part of the block, below the stock exhaust manifold near the collector flange (relatively)...it's just a hex plug.

I ordered an electric water temp gauge the other day. Will the mechanical and electrical gauge sensors mount in the same place? Maybe I'll just put it in the coolant overflow resevoir. j/k

Hmm, well that sucks. That's where I used it on my 2000 Mustang and thought that's where other people were using it, guess I was wrong (again). That's my only idea...sorry bud.

Heck, I dont know. It hasn't even gotten to my house yet. I may have to enlist the help of one of my wifes coworkers. He's into cars and race cars and he told me he would help me out if I needed it. I'll let you know what I find out.

YOu can get a digital water temp by putting the message center in the diagnostic mode. To do that the truck should be off. Hold down the trip meter reset push button, then turn the truck on. There are various diagnostic things there, one being the water temp. I assume it must be in Celcius since I was monitoring mine yesterday and it never made it above 90.
There is an oil readout in there as well, however mine just sat on 0.
