any 05 owners install their own alarm???

I'm just about down with my remote start/alarm combo. I found that I can pick up the door lock wires in the driver's door sill. But I'm running into a problem with Door triggers.

Apparently there is a dome/door trigger wire in the drivers sill plate as well. Can I just use this? I was under the impression that I would have to diode isolate all four door triggers wires, and the diode isolate the alarms door trigger wire. Can anyone confirm this for me? I'm trying like hell to find someone with an 05 that did an actuall install.

Great. I just didn't want to do it if I didn't have to. Did you put the diodes behind the back seat or just do it in the rear sill area?

My hat's off to you installer types... There's a reason why that stuff is so expensive to have done professionally.

Too many little wires, too many colors, too hard to reach...

Your wrong, every single wire on the f150 you need for an alarm is located at the BCM (you have ALOT of space to work with) The remote start is only four wires you need to run into the front of the cab. And the best part when you mount your alarm next to the BCM people WILL NOT know where its at unless you know the vehicle well.

You can use the dome wire if you want. Any time the dome light comes on when the truck is armed, the alarm will sound. This includes the keypad buttons being pressed. It's easy for someone to hit one of those buttons at night and light the interior up so they can see what you have inside. You'll have to use the delay-arming function when arming your truck so that the interior lights are off before it activates.

The alarm has two trigger wires. One is for the dome light, like you said (dome light supervision), and the other is for the door triggers.

I went at lunch to pick up some 1n4004's and apparently Radio Shack decided to close up shop. It's now some store called "I sold it on Ebay". haha.

Once I get the diodes I'm going to just put them into the wires right in the rear sill. Easier then pulling out the back seat.

Where are you going to posistion the brain, my opinion is you dont need an alarm system if your going to place it under the dash. I would say take your time and use all the specified wires at the BCM and place your brain next to it.

that's a hell of a lot of them. I'll just hit up the radio over by my house. I need to get a "normal closed" momentary switch for my parking brake wire as well.

check that thing out. Not that I would buy it, since the diods will only cost about $2. But still pretty neat, Directed is an awesome company.

Now if they would just design something like the 530T for sunroofs.

What do you mean? You can use a 2 window module to remote open and close a power moonroof. Are you talking about something else?

To get to the brain on mine, you would have to remove the gauge cluster. I like it there better. The install is easy that way to. I take the whole dash apart. Spread her wide open. More of opinion thing though.

Preyhunter, have you tried to install 2 window modules yet? Most factory moonroof's operate with 5 volt limit switches. So I would be interested in seeing how you wired this up.

Finally completed it. The doors work, nothing falses. The factory keypad and the factory key fobs can arm and disarm the alarm. THe interior door lock buttoms can only arm, not disarm. I love this alarm.

Hey Crudeau....

I was waiting for the good news! Great to hear that all is in and working perfectly!

I can understand you not wanting to do a write-up about the whole process, but was it worth paying a lil extra for the Auto Alarm Pro unit with all of the pre-wired stuff and vehicle-specific directions? Did you use any other resources to do the factory keypad, etc in addition to their directions? I'd also want that to work without setting off the dome-supervision trigger.

This alarm/starter is top of my list and I am trying to decide if I can do so myself or need to have someone else do it.

Any info is appreciated. Thanks!
