It doesn't exist. This is another one of those corners that Ford cut off of the vehicle to save a buck or three.

Adding one wouldn't be very difficult pending you can come up with a NC mercury switch (which are difficult to find these days because of the environmental risks associated with mercury)

I've added a pair to my 2004 F-150. Click signature photo, navigate to mods->lighting->under hood lights.

Cheers,

Dave,

You've got a great webpage, I'll be attacking the underhood lights next and will definately be following your lead.

Thanks for sharing

I don't think you'd need a mercury switch, just a momentary pin style???

Yeah I noticed no light. My 1999 F150 had one and it was $14,000 less. Crazy huh.

OR,

you could just mount a weather proof rocker switch or toggle in the engine compartment or cab. Just don't forget to turn it off.

If you are going to run Aux Lighting, that would be a good time to run a lighted switch in the cab for an underhood light.

We've gone through the numbers on enough topics here... I understand the theory behind it... trust me.

Myst... those look REALLY good!

Thanks guys!

I would prefer to use a switch instead of the mercury bulb I have in there (though now that it has been in a while I have to admit I don't think about it much.) I didn't think of a pin switch since I didn't want to drill if at all possible. It should work though. I am looking for a small, waterproof switch, rated at least 1 amp, with a normally closed contact. On my passenger side hinge, there is a small tab that sticks out that looks just about perfect for actuating a switch. If one happens to come to hand, I'll take out the bulb.
