I posted in the amplifier section but there doesn't seem to be much traffic in that thread.

I have a jl stealthbox and a JL 250/1 for it. Just curious to see how everyone mounted there amps. I want the heatsink facing forward, but want to easily get to the rear controls on the amp. My mind just isn't pointing out how to easily do this. I have an 05 fx4 supercab.

I dont have a pic of mine, but I can get one. I took the jack out from under the rear passenger side of mine and built a metal frame that bolts to those holes. Then I mounted my amp that frame. I will get a pic and post it tonight.

that's probably along the lines of what I want to do. Then I could just remove the screws holding the amp and adjust it if needed.

I would like to see what your bracket looks like. Thanks!

I'm thinking that I may use my jack's mounting bracket. Figure out a way to get a nice thick piece of aluminum cut to the size of the bottom of the amp. Attach that plate to the jacks mounting bracket and bada bing, got an amp rack.

Only problem is, where the hell do I buy a sheet of aluminum and how do I cut it into the square piece that I need?

The JL stealthbox covers the entire drive side and all of the middle. Can't leave the jack in because it hits the box.

Metal shop right up the road from work. Heading there now to see what they say.

on the edit- Back from the metal shop. Got a 1/8 piece of metal cut to the exact size of the amp's bottom. Was only $10. Now I will just have to line everything up and break out my drill press. Then clean prime and paint it.

I'll post up some pics when it's done. Should look neat. It'll be floating in between the seat and the floor.

Some pics of the amp rack project. I also picked up some grounding washers (anti-shake). Whatever the washers with the little spikes are called. I'm going to use them to re-mount the rack to the truck, and the use the old threaded bolt hole for the jack as my grounding point. Thing looks pretty sweet in the truck. Just floats under the seat. Total cost so far was $10 in metal, $1.98 in nuts and washers, welding was free, and I had the primer and semi-gloss black enamel.

I forgot all about getting you some pics, sorry.

Looks good! Good idea using the jack mount as part of your bracket.

thanks,

When I set it in there, you can't even tell that the brackets under it. Pretty cool. I'll post up some more pics once all my wires get delivered and everything is hooked up.

I still need to figure out my components and head-unit. Been a very slow process so far.

Here is my setup. I had it suspended a few inches underneath the seat. The seat will still fold up and down, and when its folded up, I still can put stuff on the floor cause the amp folds up out of the way, and there is still room above the amp to let heat escape. Just used a couple of basic L-brackets.

excellent. Mines the same idea just using the jack bracket. I have the mounting plate welded to it. Far forward, but still under the seat. And it has enough room for the seat to flip up with the wires attached.

I'm hopping to get away with a small 2 channel amp to drive the front components. Mount that under the pass. seat. ANd the rear fill speakers will just run off the headunits amp. Nothing competition worthy, but still sweet sounding. I can't wait to see what my JL stealth box sounds like. Just need to get a head unit to hook it up to.
