Flex-a-lite efans installed today

well I installed my flex-a-lite model 270 efans today. these are great fans work great. they have a nice shroud built in. almost look oem. these fans seem to work vary well. I set them to turn on at 200 F. idleing in my driveway they would come on for 30 seconds at 60% power then turn off for 3 minutes then turn on for 30 seconds again. it was 85 F. outside. I am vary happy with the fitment and how smooth and quiet they run. it sure opens up the front of the engine when you pull the stock fan and shroud out of there. oh and even though Flex-a-lite only listes the model 270 as fitting the 97 thru 2003 f150 but they do fit our 2004 and up f150's. I had to email Flex-a-lite to confirm this before buying.

not yet I had to come in to take a break and to get dinner. I will keep you posted on the power gains I get when I do the butt dyno. I am just as excited about the mpg gains as the hp gains. I am hopeing for 2 to 3 mpg gains but really only expect 1-2 mpg

Does one fan come on and then the second kick in if necessary, or do both go at the same time?

They look good

What did you use to measure the temperature to set the fan turn-on temperature?

the way the fan controller is set up both fans come on at 60% power level. then if the engin continues to warm up the fans will gradually increase the power level over ten degrees of engine temp rise. so I got mine set to come on at 200 F. then if the engine gets to 205 F. the fans will be at 80% and at 100% power if the engine gets to 210 F. I liked this set up better than the fans that one come on then another. it just seems a little more efficient to me. also they have a shroud built into them which helps make them more effective too.

I used the digital temperature diagnostic built into the odometer gage. it is set up in celcius so I set it to come on at between 93 and 94 deg C. which is arround 200 deg F. works great. I can watch the temp go down 2 or 3 deg. C. which is 4 or 5 deg F. just from the fans beeing on at 60% power for 30 seconds. I think these fans will cool more than good enough to cool our trucks. the real test will come when I have to tow in the heat. I don't have any plans to tow in the heat in the next month or so so I guess I will have to wait to see how that goes.

Looks great!
I have a friend that went with the flex-a-lite setup, and he loves it. I have the troyer, and love it. I also decided to trim that radiator cover to do away with some of the excess.

Thanks, I just used a jigsaw to trim it. I used a (compass?) to make a line a couple inches off of the top radius. I painted it myself. I think it looks better than the picture shows.

What about the A/C? Do they BOTH come on with the A/C or just one of them? I don't see the point of both comming on unless it is hot enough to trigger them both. And do they come on at 60% or 100% with the A/C?
