It will definitely detect something off-center. The degree of the angle would depend on where the sensors were installed themselves. I don't remember the exact specifics from the instructions, but it will project at an angle both left & right of center.

bringing this back up. since i loose sight of anything while packing up into parking spots, i need to do something. i see you guys have drilled into your chrome bumper, put tape down first before drilling, but what did you do to the new holes to stop them from rusting or peeling chrome?

Good question, I put nothing and after the first rain I had rust mark lines down the bumper. So I pulled them out and just got some spray paint that was lieing around and a match stick and applied it to the inside of the hole. Never had a problem again.

I, too, pulled my sensors and put a little paint around the cut. I didn't use a match, though. I used a rag. I've also waxed the hole. Haven't had a problem.

Only installed 2 of the 4 sensors I got. Works good so far. Have the other two sensors but don't really want to drill in the bumper

LED is mounted on top of mirror. The LED only comes on when in reverse so you never notice it until then. It displays in ft and tells you which side the object is on. When it gets down to 0 then you are 1 foot from object. Got mine on ebay as well.

Glad I saw this thread. Much cheaper than the factory option...

I installed mine so the fuse holder is right above the the trailer light connector. Whenever I hook up a trailer I reach under and pull the fuse.

I also bought a factory reverse sensor switch that goes beside the cig lighter and plan on using it as a bypass switch just like the factory system.

I mounted my display on the mirror also and contured it a little so it fit "flatter". I installed the 4 sensor version.

Does it detect just straight back or how wide is it's range of detection? Thinking of getting these for my truck and my fiance's Equinox. She wants it for parking lots and people in blind spots or at night would it help for that kind of aplication

I think txnole got the 2 sensor ($15 less) and his reads in meters which is also cheaper. Still cheaper than the $200+ from the dealer.

It should cover the same as the dealer, however I only have 2 sensors. I bought 4 but can't get the nerve up to drill in my metal bumper. I'm sure it's no big deal but just haven't done it yet. Wanted to see how the 2 sensor works. You can get the sensors in 4 different colors (I think).

Need Help/Stupid Question

I also bought this system, I installed it this weekend. I noticed in the instructions that it says to make sure the sensors are mounted in the upright position. How do you know what the upright position is? I have looked all over the sensors and can not find any marking that tells me this should be up or down. Tell me how you mounted your sensors please. Thanks.

Chris

I installed this system (2 sensers) 6 months ago and it works well. I drilled my bumpers with no problems at all. I mounted the sensers in the flatest part I could find. The only thing I notice is when the truck is at an angle backing out of my drive way it senses the ground for a few seconds other then that it works great.
