Arrow K&N FIPK

I have the K&N FIPK installed. I know some of you are gonna knock me for not getting the AF1, but this thing seems to be just as good.

Pics are in my gallery.

So what are you thoughts on the intake? Any noticable performance gains? I'm thinking of the K&N myself...

I have the K and N on an 03 and there were no probs with codes or anything. It gives a good tone on hard acceleration. I could not tell a real seat of pants difference. Every1 hollering about the AF1 now but it is said to produce the good results in the newer 04/05 model trucks.

Well the K&N Shows a 15HP gain at a tad over 3800 RPM. Troyer touts the AF1 with an insane 25HP gain at 3000 RPM I believe... how the hell the AF1 can get 10 extra ponies with a minor design difference?! WTF?! I think nearly all CAIs deliver the same result... hell, they all look the same. A tube, a bend, and big honkin' filter.

I'd be interested in the answers as well. I had the K&N on my 02 and loved it. Torn between that and the Airraid now.

No knocking here, buddy. Is that the aircharger or the actual FIPK? I jumped the gun and got the aircharger on mine. I didn't wait for the CARB certification, but they don't check it around here anyway. 15K miles at least and no CEL's. Brace yourself, lots of people on here think the AF1 is the best thing since sliced bread.

BTW, is the wires going to your TB (left side) tight? That's the only design issue I have. The elbow makes the wires really taught (sp?)

Arrow finally getting back

Sorry for taking so long to get you responses....

The noise-----yeah you can tell something is there. There is a slight high pitch sucking noise but very hard to notice(i noticed while sticking my head out the window to listen while going 75mph). And yes of course it does open up to be pretty hungry sound when gassing it. The engine noise now is louder, but it has also deepened and intensified the exhaust level!

The C.A.R.B.-----yeah i have the carb identification.

Noticable gain----I want to say yes simply because it is way way easier to break those tires loose now, and when going from a cruising speed to quick acceleration it is more responsive.

Tight TB wires---yes very tight, and almost hard to get clicked back in.

CEL's---yes, but this is at my own fault....me being a slight dumba$$ put the air sensor in backwards, and that set the code, then I switched it back and everything is fine.

All in all...i agree all intakes are relatively the same. The only difference is how the air flows...between the K&N and the AF1...not enough of a difference----THEY ARE THE SAME!

I am happy with my purchase, and yes I would recommend it to others, but just be prepared for better response on the gas and a pretty mean sounding engine.

Hope this helps!
