Disable Door Chime?

Is it possible to disable, mute, muffle the door chime?
Where is the chime located under the dash?

You'll find it in your owners manual, can't remember what page, but don't have to many coctails before you do it.

Are you sure that it isn't for the seat belt reminder chime? That is the only chime I see that you can disable in the owners manual.

It's not in the owners manual. He said DOOR chime, not SEATBELT chime.

This came up in Google . Sounds reasonable:

locate the wire from the door latch switch behind the kick panels and cut a switch into the wire to fool the module that the door is closed. Mount the switch under the dash by the door or up high on the kick panel, so when you open the door, reach in and flip the switch.

This is for a '97 Scab, but will probably be the same for most years. Drivers side wire is Black/Yellow in the 16 pin plug and the passenger side wire is Black/Pink in the 16 pin plug.
I searched and really didn't find any answers better than this. Let us know if it works for you, because it might be a nice mod.

I got mine done yesterday. I took of the bottom steering column plastic, have to take off the lower dash to get it out, and there is a connector(I guess ignition, was a few) with a black and pink wire, I just unplugged the connector and pulled the wire out, taped it back, and went back together. No more DING DING DING. May not bother some people, but man I hate it. I took a pic of the connector and wire, I will post it if I can figure it out.

Thanks for the reply though.

The shroud is not easy to pull loose because it actually has a flange that sticks into the steering wheel. I found the wire coming off of the ignition switch that was hot when the key was inserted. There are about seven wires, some are big. This wire is small and it is one of three small wires. I think it is brown with a stripe, but anyway take a test light or multi meter and check. I cut the wire, but left enough that I can reconnect if needed. I have not had any problems with anything else not working and it has been two days. I assume the feature that won't allow you to lock your keys in your truck will not work anymore. I have keypad entry so I don't care.

Good luck

That lower steering wheel column shroud is a real B!TCH to remove and reinstall.

I opted to remove the wire/pin from the connector, that way I can just push it back in if needed. To do this I popped off the red connector cover and inserted a jeweler's screwdriver to lift the pin lock, then pull the wire out. I insulated the pin with shrink tubing. (WARNING: disconnect the ground from your battery before doing this)

Here's some pics I took:

This is exactly what I did too. Works great!
Now the lower shroud came off easy but is a major PIA to put back in. Other than that
