Another CEL on my AF1
HotLap, thanks for confirming the requirement for a flash tuner, ie., Predator or SChips, to tune A/F ratios for a CAI on the 5.4 3v. I realized when researching the tuners that some (such Predator) give you access to MAF maps, which logically tell me you can 'richen' the mixture to avoid a lean condition.
Frankly, it sounds like Predator gives more feedback from the PCM and allows you to tweak many parameters whereas the SuperChips tuner basically downloads a new flash or preset tune to the PCM. I'm favoring Predator, but need to do more research. With more control comes more risk, of course, that I could really foul something up with the tune.

Spoke to Anita at Troyer today... I must say the rave reviews for Troyer, on this forum, are well-deserved. We spoke about the CEL problem, it's history on my truck and what the next step could be. She advised swapping out the intake tube, due to the MAF sensor fit problem I had initially. She also put me in touch Customer Service at AF1 Performance.
Everett, of AF1 Perf, mentioned that earlier production f150s had pcm 'sensitivities' that made CELs almost unavoidable. Later AF1 versions have a modified tube, with a shorter length on the throttle body side of the tube. It's the shorter plenum into the throttle body that apparently fixes the CEL (hopefully). They will be shipping one to me tomorrow.
I'm hoping this will take care of the CEL... but the customer service from both Troyer and AF1 have been super.
Everett gave me the phone number to AF1's engineer, whom I be calling tomorrow and discussing the situation.
Again, I'll keep all advised.

Glad to hear that things are working out. Customer service is something that few can really put a price tag on in my opinion. Troyer continues to demonstrate that they are a customer oriented company IMO... please keep us in the loop as to what you find out and best of luck!
