I dont have a Power Steering cooler! WTF?

Ok, i have seen hundreds upon hundreds of F150's and mine is the first i have ever seen without a power steering cooler.. ..

I was wondering if for some reason my truck didnt come with one? or they just forgot that step during assembly or somthing...

Im lifting my truck and putting 37's on it on tuesday so i want to make sure my steering will stay cool.

Take a look at what my lines look like...

Should i go down to the dealer and ask them what the heck is going on? or do some trucks not come with them?

Thanks,

Did you say that you were looking for the power steering cooler? Did you by any chance not buy your truck during the "buy your ford truck now and we will throw in the towing package at no cost to you" period. Or was it maybe the 6850# gvwr. Somebody round here might be able to tell you why no POWER STEERING COOLER.

What tha?!
Are you joking or do you mean a transmisson Cooler? Why would you need a power steering cooler? Do you turn the wheel that often?
Am I up too late?

Every 150 I have had since at least 1990 has had a power steering cooler. I can't say why yours doesn't have one. Mine does.
Because power steering is done thru hydraulics, it is constantly under pressure. Pressure creates heat, ergo a cooler.

Trannie cooler

PS Cooler

^ yea same here this is the first truck i've had without one.. And if this truck is supposed to have one i need to ford to put it on before i lift my truck, or down the road if my steering goes out they will blame it on my oversized tires..

What do you all say? do to the dealer and make a fuss?

That U shaped tube, in your first picture, with the 2 brackets on it IS the power steering cooler.

It is called "TUBE-POWER STEERING COOLER".

Don't worry, you arent missing a finned cooler. This type of cooler just doesnt have the need for fins.

Hope this helps

Wouldn't hurt to ask.
I wonder if they changed anything that would allow them to stop putting in the cooler. Different fluid? My owners manual says to use Mercon ATF. Is yours different. Also I didn't see anything on what year/model yours is. Mine is the 04 FX4.

As to what happens if it overheats. Not sure. Would it lose some of it's hydraulic properties, I don't know. Maybe someone like Quintin can answer that.
