HAHA yea well, we 05'ers can go 1/1000 of a mph faster because we have 8oz less metal on our trucks- so there!...screw the fins- they only catch rocks and slow ya down!
(i hope we 05'ers didnt get the shaft on that part- that 2/5" tube better radiate heat dang well!)

mitchman- possibly, however im thinkin that cofx4 is a supercab like me

From all the differences, I'm beginning to wonder if it is more of what they happen to have in stock when they built our truck.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that noticed this.

'05 supercrew built in May, no fins here either. Oh well guess they figured that the extra surface area for heat transfer wasn't needed anymore. Sounds like a cost reduction step to me.

the build location sticker was in the lower right corner of my front windshield unitl i removed it in your vin# are a series of numbers... mine is
1ftpx14555fb17907 (where: [555] is may 5th, 2005) this is the only way i know where it is..maybe someone else knows an easier way

seems pretty arbitrary to put in two entirely different ps components- one with fins one without- i still wonder what the justification is, or how effective each are- maybe the finless is a different metal- one that radiates heat faster and without the need for heat sinks? whatever, as long as my truck keeps running beautifully...

Have a 05 XLT built in Dearborn, born 4/16/05, I have fins! but I actually thought it was the engine oil cooler DUH, guess I'll have to buy one of those now.

I'd take it to the dealer! Make it leak or something, maybe they'll replace it.

Mine has the finned power steering cooler, But no auxillery transmission cooler?

At least when my transmission gets fried I will have no trouble getting it onto the shoulder.

It does go through the radiator. with the trans fluid for cooling. If you don't have the tow package, I would expect you would not have the aux trans cooler.
