Anyone put in a tool box on a SCREW?

I just traded my SCAB in on a SCREW and love it! The only thing it, I miss my toolbox...with the SCREW having a shorter box, i was wondering, has anyone put one and and found that it takes to much room? I dont want to get it and then not be able to even haul a new washer or furniture... Pics would be apprecieated, if there are any out there!

It all depends on what you need to carry. You either get a toolbox or you don't. The width/depth/whatever really won't vary much IMO. Some gullwing (over the rail) types might be easy to temporarily remove if you need the space ... seems like a pain. I actually mounted my chest toolbox with a piece of angle iron and hardward. By removing two wingnuts inside the box, I can easily yank the whole thing out of my bed. I haven't needed to do it, but I like knowing that I can if and when.

jperea has a smaller toolbox that may interest you ... same one CrAz3D linked above.

I did a similar thing on my F250, but not quite as slick. I had the chest type tool box. I cut 2 lengths of aluminum angle stock the same length as the tool box. I drilled the box, bed and angle stock with holes to match. I droped a couple of stainless steel bolts down through the tool box (with a big fender washer) through the bed and through the angle stock. Stainless locknut held in in place. Just to be on the safe side, I used silicone to go between the bottom of the bed and the angle stock. I had this set up for 7 years, and never a problem. Taking the box out was as easy as loosening the nuts underneath and pulling the box out. Make sure you use stainless if you are going to penetrate the bed. Anything else will rust out pretty quick and either break, or be impossible to remove.

I am against the same issue you are. I carry and ATV in the back of my SuperCrew, so the cross bed box is out. I am currently looking at a couple of side mount tool boxes to leave the center of the bed open for the ATV.

I've got this one...

It doesn't take up space at all...still have the full length available...

Now I just need to get another for the other side to match.

if you go for an over-the-rail style that is attached with J-Bolts, you can have it off in 5 minutes if need be.
