Remember, there will always be something better to look forward to, at least we hope! I look forward to buying a new F-150 or whatever I want when I get my current truck paid for and have enjoyed to its fullest, whichever takes longer.

Well here is its...the chrome mirrors and chrome lariat wheels don't look that bad. Definitely am not going to change my bumper or my wheels (I'm going to buy new rims and tires when I wear mine down) but I'm considering putting on the chrome mirror covers after I have mine painted black to match the truck.

Edit: Can someone teach me how to post the picture directly into the thread for future reference please? Thanks!

Duke,
Thanks for the pics. The chrome wheels look nice...not too crazy about the chrome half cover on the mirrors, but I'll have to see it for myself before I can decide.

I do not like the new valance...I think the old fogs look better and fit with the headlights better.

I'm not convinced the $1300 chrome package is worth it...then again, I'm biased because I've got an '05 on order!

the last gen F150 got a new front end after 2 model years. This is no different. Not refreshing models quickly enough is what doomed Henry to be #2 to GM.

Maybe Billy learned from Great grand-dads mistakes and understands that to keep on top (and ahead of Toyota and Nissan) they need to be competitive and fresh.

I for one am glad that I got an '05. I love the tough look of the rectangular fog lights and I like my lower valance better. I would not pay an extra $1300 for a bunch of chrome pieces. I like polished aluminum rims over chrome ones any day. I think the Lariat with the lower two-tone Arizona Beige is classier for a Lariat than a bunch of chrome…but that is just me. My ’98 had chrome bumpers, grill and mirrors and I wanted something different after driving it for 7 years.

The only thing I would change on my new truck would be to have painted door handles and tailgate handle. Even my ’98 XLT had painted door handles.

I'm on the fence with the chrome mirror covers...going to wait it out. The chrome package definitely is not worth it. The handles are only chrome and the buckets are still black plastic from what I've been told. The wheels arn't neccessary b/c I will in four years and many others already will upgrade to aftermarket. Chrome tip is a joke, and you're right on the new valance and fog lights, it doesn't match the headlights. They look like they'd put out less light too. They're just trying to align it better with the look of the smaller truck...good god, can't think of the name right now....that's funny. But I know when I was riding with my Dad, he called it the F75 (half of 150). Obviously not the right name, but I found it funny none the less.

Black buckets, chrome handle....WHY???

I just realized, via that Ordering Guide posted earlier, that I will be able to get the LT handles for my 04 Aspen Green XLT, since 06 Lariats can get that option in the "chrome package". Thank you Ford!

EDIT: Just re-read the Ordering Guide, and it's black buckets with chrome handles. WHY CAN'T THEY PAINT THE DAMNED BUCKETS?

Those options in the chrome package are supposeably just the handle itself and not covers or replacements for the bucket as well.

maybe not Travis. Read Duke's post right before yours, they may just be black plastic (w/chrome handles) and not actually color matched? somone would need to verify this...

This is what is in the ordering guide for the chrome package:

"Black door and tailgate handle bezels with chrome handle straps."

Not too shabby I'm not big on chrome though. I ordered my '05 just the way I wanted it and haven't had a vehicle with chrome on it since the 1970's.

Love the two tone option too,

Scott

Chrysler would be offering that special 'Corinthian Leather Package' option as well
